Can you get approved for anything with a 700 credit score?
A 700 credit score is a good credit score, but it's not high enough for you to qualify for new credit cards that require an excellent score of around 800 or more.
However, you can set a personal finance goal to continue building credit at any age and maintain positive credit habits. Responsible credit usage factors such as having low credit utilization and an on-time payment history will gradually raise your score.
Being mindful of your credit balances and avoiding late payments should reflect well on your credit report with the three major credit bureaus — Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. And you can qualify for many excellent credit cards with a 700 credit score.
Is a 700 credit score very good?
A 700 credit score is good, while a 740 credit score is "very good", according to the FICO credit score range. An 800 score or higher is considered excellent. A 700 credit score won't get you in the door for all credit cards, but it's often sufficient to qualify for many different types of cards, including some of the best travel credit cards.
How do I know if I have a good credit score?
If you have at least a 670 FICO score, you have a good credit score. However, scores can go up to 850, so there's quite a bit more room for improvement. It's a good idea to check your credit score for free through Chase Credit Journey, on myFICO.com, and through Capital One's CreditWise.
So I've managed to build up to a 720 Equifax, 686 Experian, and 731 Transunion with my credit age showing inccorectly as 7 mth (equifax), 8 mth (experian), 1 year 6 mth (transunion) (I've had secured cards and lines for about 2-3 years now so that seems weird.)
I recently got denied for instant approval for a best buy "citi platinum visa" card to finance a $1000 purchase that I was trying to 12 month finance ( i can easily pay the $83 a month, in fact I could pay it off in 3-4 no problem) but wasn't pre-approved or potentially outright denied (The page said "weren't approved" and they would send me a message later explaining. They did say i might be approved for gold or silver rather than platinum in some of the fine print so i assume thats a "not PRE approved" message.)
I don't want to do too many more hard inquiries but so far I'm only pre-approving for secured cards from discover, capital one etc.. Does anyone know any cards/financing programs with 12 month 0% that I would be very likely to qualify for? I really wanted this new computer part to help with my software programming studies as it makes things FAR easier to complete my work so i'd rather not wait and 100% plan to value my credit like its my literal life lol.
Thanks.
