I have had this happen twice in the last month with two different sellers. Both items have shipped via eBay delivery service. In both cases, the seller shipped the item, and the tracking never updated beyond the first entry ‘tracking number provided.’ The expected delivery dates have come and gone, without the items ever arriving. I’ve given it two or three days past that point before contacting the sellers. Both sellers swear that the items were shipped and should have arrived already. They both are responsive, and both have plenty of positive feedback - I have no reason to think the items weren’t actually shipped. I’ve had other transactions where eBay delivery services was used, and it has never been a problem - the tracking updates as you would expect, and the item arrives, usually well before the expected delivery date.
Has anyone else run into this issue? Both sellers were responsive and shipped replacements. But I am curious what happened here?

eBay standard envelope…ughhh. So I’ll tell you this. The envelopes are 100% too rigid that are being used is my guess. As a card seller myself it took me a couple weeks to figure out how to stop this from happening as it’s even more frustrating as a seller. When I first started I was using envelopes that were a bit thicker and more rigid to protect the cards better. Ran into the problem with the No scans…some arriving no problem and a couple ending up in lala land. Switched to printing directly on a plain A2 invitation envelope and have not had a problem in over 300 orders now. All receiving scans the same night.

Yep. eBay envelope tracking is like this. A lot of the time it doesn't update, gets lost or sent back for extra postage.

July 6, 2022 - You can open a case one day past the last estimated delivery date. Bombarding the seller with emails will get you nothing. Have you tried entering the tracking number directly on the USPS website? Sometime the ebay tracking doesn't always pick up the latest updates that USPS has.

October 14, 2024 - Scroll down to the specific order, that you know had been delivered, but still shows "shipped". Next to the image of your product, should be buyer's name. Below buyer's name should be the product description and below that should be the tracking label, with the tracking number below it. If there is an "edit" label next to the tracking number, you are good to go. If not, then you can no longer do anything about your issue.

Is anyone else having issues with the tracking for a shipment not tracking? I shipped an item around the middle of last week and the shipping still has not updated. I'm not to worried about it because the arrival date is for this Friday. I was just wondering if anyone else is having this issue?

This has always been an issue, if you ship something via USPS. It's not always scanned. Never drop a package in your mailbox, take it the USPS or some store that accepts USPS and scans it in at the counter.

Tracking is oftentimes unreliable, so don't assume an issue until there is one. That said, the recommendation is always to get a scan at your Post Office so that if something does go wrong, you're covered insurance-wise. Without the original scan, you're not covered in the case of an issue.

I shipped an item with a registered letter. The item was delivered but the tracking number was not updated at any time. I contacted the post and they told me that due to delays of the virus, some posts do not scan the tracking numbers because they want to save time. What is the point of this "registered" shipping then? Luckily, the buyer told me that he received the item and left me a positive feedback. But couldn't he just deceive me, claiming it is lost since the tracking number won't ever be updated and ask for a refund to get both his money and the item?

Unfortunately yes. That's been the problem with this no scanning crap. I run the corporate eBay store and we have so many customers say, "you created the label, when are you going to ship?" All I can do is verify with the warehouse the pick up date and hope the buyer is reasonable. Our metrics are tanking especially from UPS updating days later.
