How returns work
This will shorten the processing time of the return, help sellers manage returns more efficiently, and reduce the likelihood of defects should the buyer ask eBay to step in to help with a case. For the following return reasons, sellers have the opportunity to review and approve the return, enabling them to handle the issue directly with the buyer:

What do you sellers do about buyers 'i just dont like it' return requests?
With returns, i don't give people much trouble. I eat the loss then relist and resell. It's not worth my time to fight over 1 return. The amount of time, effort and energy is not worth it. More on reddit.com

What do you do when a buyer selects the wrong return reason?
I report buyers who return for the wrong reason, and block them. I don't know if there is anything else to do. More on reddit.com

Buyer wants return, ordered by mistake on no return item

It depends on the return reason. If he chose 'ordered by mistake', I believe you can decline it.

Call eBay to double check.

How do I respond to a return request? I described my item accurately in the description.
I have "no returns" selected. Sadly, this doesn't matter, and a buyer can always claim "Item not as described" and force a return. Your best bet is to accept the return, send the buyer a return label, get the item back, inspect it (some buyers might damage the item just to mess with you), and relist. Shady buyers will claim "Item not as described" in order to get a refund without having to return the item, so they get the item for free. I recommend you don't agree to this. Ask for your item back. Then relist it. More on reddit.com

Handling returns | eBay Developers Program
Each return starts with the buyer when, after receiving an item, they go to the eBay website and initiate a return request. So that they can respond in a timely manner, sellers must monitor their listings so they can retrieve any incoming return requests. When a buyer issues a return request, they must state the reason why they want to return the item.

r/Ebay on Reddit: What do you sellers do about buyers 'i just dont like it' return requests?
May 22, 2024 -

Hey there, as the title says, what do you sellers do when a buyer receives the item, and instantly makes an ebay dispute and return request and in the reason for they write 'i just don't like it'

The reason I ask is surely the seller is then in a position of financial loss due to the cost of return postage, packaging, time and effort? And ebay should not be putting sellers in such a position? I mean, what if all buyers on ebay bought an item, looked at it, and returned it because they don't like it? Did the listing not explain things clearly enough? Were the listing pictures not enough for the buyer to make a purchase choice? What is the point in even writing a description and adding photos, when the seller should just put basic words and let the ebay return process rule.

If a seller lists an item as 'returns not accepted' does this make the slightest bit of difference?

How does a seller list an item which states that if the buyer wishes to return the item they must pay the return post fee?

Thanks for listening :)

I offer free returns, which may be dumb but whatever, I’m customer service oriented.

So it grinds my gears when someone selects one of the INAD reasons to return an item and the comment is literally ‘just didn’t like it’. LIKE BRO YOU CAN SELECT THAT AS A REASON. Is there a way to get this to not negatively impact my metrics?
