I think I might’ve accidentally provided the wrong tracking number. What happens now?
Asking for tracking numbers…
Seller doesn’t want to provide tracking number
do i NEED to include tracking with ebay?

I’ve never sold anything on eBay before, and I’ve also never shipped anything in the mail either, so this is my first time.
I shipped the item through UPS. I mainly use eBay through my phone, and it has the feature to scan a barcode to get the tracking information instead of manually putting it in. So I scanned the barcode on my shipping receipt and it provided an 18 digit number.
The receipt also has another number that started with 1Z and I feel like I should’ve just used that. Immediately after scanning the barcode and pressing save, it marked the items as shipped so I couldn’t edit it.
I don’t know what I’m supposed to do now other than contact the buyer and tell him about the situation. Is there any way I can edit the tracking information?
Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve got more than a couple of people asking me for tracking numbers. They will purchase the item and then immediately send me a message stating something along the lines of: please provide a tracking number when the item ships.
Is there a scenario in which eBay does not provide a tracking number to someone? All my stuff ships either priority USPS or ground advantage is there a way not to get a tracking number? All these people have enough feedback that I feel like they should know what’s going on.
Granted, I don’t do a lot of buying off eBay but I do a lot of selling and I always get an email with the tracking number once my item ships.
