I’ve been selling high value items for 2 years now. Never had it been this bad. Because I price my goods at a very low price, they usually sell within a week, many within a day. Recent 3 months have significantly slowed down. Never had multiple listings fail to sell after 2 weeks. Never had multiple listings been “watched” by this many people and no one is buying. I see my competitors fail to sell their items too. Never seen this many items just waiting to sell on the market. They can’t sell even with >£100 discounts.
I used to have a great online business on there (2008-2018)but the amount of Chinese irrelevant listings made mine get lost. Random algorithm changes made sales unpredictable. Fvf were disproportionate and the economy picked up, so I just got a job. Im hindsight I wouldn't have done it at all. Various CEOs looking to make changes and push out smaller businesses did push many out which I think they now regret as it was a resource nevertheless. The overnight changes in Royal Mail postage charges made many businesses unviable.
I like to use it for buying second hand books now as a more ethical alternative to the one that pays little tax. Also it's great for little diy gadgets and hardware.
Interested to hear from businesses on there and buyers especially
Sales are dead! is the cost of living crisis still the reason or something else?
Hi all, I’m a private seller clearing out my closet. I had been having at least a sale a day but haven’t now had anything for five days now! I am selling old clothing. How is everyone else finding it?
Usually, on a slow week I will still sell a few items but this past week, I’ve been lucky to even get views. Selling has took a complete nosedive recently and if it continues, there won’t be any users left.
I don’t understand EBay’s strategy here, if sellers aren’t getting views or watchers, they’re not getting sales, therefore EBay aren’t getting their fees. It’s mind boggling.
