Ecwid just remive their free plan. Any free alternatives? Fine with the small, pre-sale, fees they charge, but don't want a monthly subscription.
Anyone using ecwid as their platform?
What are your impressions?

The commercial said it's easy to set up a shop and it's free.
Anyone have any insight on it?
If you are using this or familiar with it? I would love to hear your feedback before I dive in...
It looks like it'd be a good addition to what I do today
Ecwid is free to start so it’s great to dive in anyway with zero risk.
Regarding my experience, I don’t have a live store with it at present I have played around with it and I was impressed.
What sort of business do you run? Lots of products/services??
Goodluck!

Evening all!
I've been using ECWID for my site for many years but recently they've been terrible! So looking to move.
I don't need a fully-fldged checkout, I just sell services via my existing site. Each service has a "buy button" with 1/2 product options which then go directly to a checkout (currently ECWID linked to Stripe and PayPal). I did look into Stripe payment links, but they seem a little limited.
Didn't like to look of Shopify....gave Cognito forms a go - this worked well, but their options for payment processers to connect to is limited (no Klarna link).
Maybe I need something custom-built?
Hi. I know how much people rely on and love Shopify (and especially Plus) for all the different ways it can be used and customized. But I’ve got a vendor pitching me about their middleware and saying their e-commerce platform is based upon Ecwid. I’ve been in ecomm since 2009 and I’d never heard of Ecwid. BuT!… I’m no closed minded; I’ll play along. WTH is Ecwid and is it even comparable to Shopify plus at all? Is it trustworthy? Is it supported/maintained? Any data/privacy issues? Is it fast & reliable?
I’m looking for any blind spots I might be missing so I can ask clarifying questions, but I’m also wondering if I should just walk away, vs be open minded to trying something that’s not something I’ve already heard of, like Shopify or big commerce, woocommerce or magento, or… any of the other ecomm solutions that have been around and made a name for themselves.
Anyone have any thoughts on Ecwid?
Hi everyone,
I’m a new entrepreneur looking to set up an online store. I’m trying to decide between WooCommerce and ECWID, and I’d love some advice.
Here’s what I’m looking for: • A fast, modern-looking website. • Less than 10 products (they won’t change • Easy-to-manage setup with minimal maintenance.
With WooCommerce, I understand I’ll likely need plugins for things like: Abandoned cart recovery, Social media integration, Discount codes, LiveChat, SEO optimization.
I’m worried about hidden costs with WooCommerce, especially since plugins can add up. I also know some developers on Fiverr or Upwork offer cheap setups, but they might use nulled plugins, which seems risky in the long run.
On the other hand, ECWID’s Venture plan includes many of these features, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the monthly cost compared to WooCommerce.
Considering I have a small, fixed product range and want a fast, clean store, which platform do you think is better?
Is WooCommerce worth the extra setup and potential plugin costs?
Or is ECWID a more straightforward, low-maintenance option for a small business like mine?
I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially about real-world costs and must-have plugins!
Thanks! 😊
Like many others, I have that dream to run successful stores. Created a store sometime ago and started on Ecwid's $15 a month plan. However, I barely see anyone talking about it as Shopify is king in this space right now.
As a newer entrepreneur, I'm curious as to why Ecwid isn't as popular. Am I missing a ton of features that Shopify presents to their users? Should I just go ahead and switch?
Thanks to everyone for their advice on this sub for this and all other posts!
I've never heard of Ecwid. All I can say is that I know Shopify, and I don't like it. We're running a store (not dropshipping, mind you) and we're currently looking at approximately $400 in Shopify-related expenses per month (apps and what not). For a start-up, that's quite a lot IMO. I know WooCommerce fairly well and I know for a fact that, had we gone with a WP site, we'd be looking at maybe $20 per month instead. So for what it's worth, my recommendation goes to WordPress with WooCommerce.
Ecwid has been great for our business. You can check out how we customized it if you want at https://www.symbiotestudios.com
