We came to Edinburgh for the weekend, didn’t realise that the castle tickets would be sold out for both days! I know it’s a busy time - just wondering if there’s any other way to attaining tickets apart from the official website? Cheers
I’m visiting Edinburgh in October of this year. When I look at the Edinburgh castles website it shows no tickets available October - December.
Does anyone know if they are closed, only open up tickets a certain period before the dates or if they’re sold out?
Hi all! I’m visiting Edinburgh Castle next week. However, I am confused and would be grateful for some clarification - i I’m all the understanding that if I buy the £19 admission ticket for 12pm next week, that will get me inside the castle including St Margaret’s Chapel (something I really want to see) and everything else inside the castle. However, why are ticket times only half an hour? Surely it takes more than half an hour to view the castle’s interiors? Further, there’s this thing called “the Royal route” (if you google Edinburgh Castle Royal Route), it’s a 1.5 hour experience however there is absolutely no hyperlink to that activity. So my question is, is this a completely separate thing to a standard admission? Or is it something that I have to specify I want to do after I get my ticket? Further, if I buy a standard admission ticket for £19 that only lasts half an hour why is this Royal showing for 1.5 hours?

Hello! Looking to sell 3 adult and 1 senior Edinburgh Castle tickets for tomorrow -July 1st for entrance between 2:30 and 3:00 p.m. for 15 pounds each. Send me a direct message!
I was in Edinburgh this past week and bought Flexi-pass tickets for the Castle. Unfortunately time got the best of us and we were unable to use them. I have 2 tickets I am looking to give away (free) - message if interested!
[UPDATE- TICKETS HAVE FOUND A NEW HOME]
I only have 1 day in Edinburgh. I really wish I had more time since it is such a beautiful city. Planning to do Edinburgh castle in the afternoon and going to Arthur’s seat for the sunset however, I don’t want to do the hike up there because I don’t want to lose time. Ideally, I just want to get to the top, view the city and continue exploring the rest of Edinburgh. Is this possible?
Hi all, my trip is just a couple weeks out and want your thoughts on whether I need to buy tickets in advance for Westminster Abbey, Tower of London, British Museum and Edinburgh Castle? Or will I be fine buying tickets when I get there?
The rest of my trip is outlined day by day but wanted some spontaneity if possible on the time
Hi there, I am new to Scotland and i was told that entry to Edinburgh Castle bis free at some weekends in November due to st andrews day. So far haven't found anything on it. Can anyone please help?
I have 7 tickets to Edinburgh Castle for Friday August 16 at 2:00. 6 adult tickets and one child ticket. I cannot use them. Don’t want them to go to waste. Am willing to give them away.
Is it worth it to take a guided tour of Edinburgh Castle? If so, there are three. 2 to 3 hours. One hour. Royal areas. As in , is it easy enough to do on your own . TIA
Is it true and something that only locals know... If you go to the castle and say that you are going to the Scottish National War Memorial, that you get in for free as it's free to go and see it to pay your respects.
Was wondering if anyone can tell me pricing structure for the Edinburgh castle show?
I seen it starts from roughly £65 but I don't have presale so couldn't actually click through to see full price list. General sale isn't until 17th.
Thanks!
Usually when travelling through Europe we’ve had great luck with sandemans, and have enjoyed their paid castle tour before, but they don’t seem to be offering it anymore.. atleast not in mid January. Any other companies you’d suggest? Looking for tour guides who are as entertaining as they are informative.
Thanks!
Hi, I'll plan on visiting Edinburgh on a Sunday (21 Sep) and doing the following stuff:
10am - Edinburgh Castle (is a guided tour worth it, or would if be fine to just stroll by and get a few snaps?)
2:30pm - Post lunch, walk past the Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace to Arthur's seat (again, conflicted between this and Calton Hill - feel free to suggest)
5pm - Walk to Princes Street, do a little shopping (what is worth buying here?)
8pm - Dinner and back to Glasgow
None of these times are super strict (except the castle if I get a guided tour ticket). Pls feel free to comment and offer suggestions.
What are your thoughts on Edinburgh castle? Worth a visit? I assume its very busy always and you can’t take photos. Similar to Windsor castle.
Hello! My wife and I are very excited to be visiting Edinburgh. I know there's plenty to do and see in 7 days, but in consideration of that timeframe what recommendations would you have in order to accomplish our goal of seeing and visiting lots of castles?
Are the 1-3 day trips from tour companies a good option? It seems like that may be a convenient way to see the Highlands, Loch Lomond, and visit some key spots outside of Edinburgh.
Or is it worth it to rent a car and travel ourselves?
