If you shop online using the Apple Education Store and not the regular online Apple Store, you can order the new MacBook Air (and other Apple products) without having to verify that you’re a student.

Nope they do not. You just buy it like any normal apple product. You should have no issues buying through the apple higher education website in Canada. They didn't ask me on my 3 purchases although I am a student. More on reddit.com

You know I was going to do this, I’m a 4th grade teacher. But I went there and they had a perfect condition open box MacBook Air base for $650. The reason it was $650? It was returned and missing the two Apple stickers, that’s it. So I bought it and added Applecare+, it came to about $960 out the door . Which is still a little under the education discount price out the door and I got 3 year Apple care included. So TBH I’d watch BB open box deals, same return policy and you can still add Applecare. July 14, 2025 - In January 2022, Apple changed the U.S. Education Discount Store to require validation from UNiDAYS before students can get a discount, but it then removed the requirement. Apple could re-implement this validation step that students in other countries have to go through. If it does it may still be possible for non-students in the U.S. to avoid the validation step, as per this Reddit post. Canadian students can follow the same steps as the U.S. Start shopping at Apple’s Canada Education Store.

Hi I’m a student from the Philippines but I have relatives visiting home from Canada. I figured that I could ask them to buy a laptop for me from the online education store but I’m not a student in Canada, I’m a student in the Philippines. So I was wondering if they could still avail the educational pricing online without proof since I will still be paying for it? Also apple products in the Philippines cost a lot more than US and CA so I’m trying to save up a few hundred dollars.

Nope, just ordered my Mac as a student. Technically although I’m not enrolled in a uni/college at this time, I am planning to use it to study using online courses and maybe enrol somewhere in a year, so I don’t feel too bad.

Hi everyone!
I'm a university student from Brazil and I'm traveling to Canada soon. I was wondering if it's possible to buy a MacBook using Apple Education Pricing while I'm in Canada, even though I don't study there.
When purchasing online through the Canadian Apple Education Store, I noticed that they don’t ask for any student verification upfront (no UNiDAYS or document upload). But I’m concerned about whether they verify your student status at the moment of in-store pickup or delivery.
I also read that during the Back to School period, when Apple includes a free pair of AirPods with the purchase, they tend to be stricter with verification. So I’m not sure if they might ask for proof at pickup or cancel the order.
My questions:
Has anyone ever purchased a Mac (or other device) through the education store in a country where you don’t actually study?
Do they ask for student ID, enrollment letter, or other proof when picking it up?
Has anyone had their order cancelled or rejected for this?
Would love to hear from anyone who’s been through a similar situation recently. Thanks in advance!
