I've recently started playing Minecraft with my friend, and he introduced me to a minigame called Egg Wars on Cubecraft. Basically, Egg Wars is a gamemode similar to Bedwars in which players are supposed to protect their egg, collect resources, and destroy their opponents' eggs.
It didn't take me long to realize that I found Egg Wars lackluster. Everyone sat on their egg and farmed resources. Furthermore, with the most valuable resource (diamonds) being farmable on the starter island and players camping, there's really no incentive to rush anyone, and as teams are made up of three people, skill is negligible unless you're nothing short of a god. Essentially, it becomes an hour-long war of attrition where the team that's more willing to stare at their computer screen for longer wins.
I asked my friend why he thought that Egg Wars was superior to Skywars or Bedwars, and he told me that collecting resources was fun and that he didn't enjoy dying often. I still don't see any merit to playing this gamemode. Am I playing this the wrong way?
