March 7, 2013Anyone lived in an Eichler community? What did you like and dislike about it?
Little to no insulation with the only option for HVAC being mini split systems with units in each room (not that bad to be honest). But slab foundations are typical and usually all pipes run through the slab. Good and bad of that is they are concealed in concrete and don’t age as fast and bad is they are concealed in concrete and when they do age replacement is necessary and difficult. All those windows tons of natural light but yes tough on keeping heat in and vice versa during seasonal shifts. More on reddit.com

Pros - stylish mid-century modern open floor-plan with lots of glass. Cons - generally cheaply constructed, concrete slab means major expensive pain in the ass when the pipes rust out in the slab, old single pane windows means very high energy bills or replace with extremely expensive large dual pane windows, no garage/generally a carport, no insulation in the roof.
