Not mentioning brands, but more what to look for. You want a plywood deck. Some of the uber-cheap ones have a steel grid or mesh, that's not going to do your mattress any favors. For a King mattress, I don't like the 1-piece King adjustables. IMO you're putting too much stress on the motor each time you use it. Motors are often rated for 750-850 pounds max capacity. If you have a heavy mattress and 2 adults on the mattress while you're lifting it, you're asking a lot more of the motors than you would be if you were using 2 twin extra long adjustable bases that have been synced together. When you use 2 synced bases, you have 2 motors sharing the load on the head, and 2 motors sharing the load on the foot portion. I do find pillow tilt and motorized lumbar support to be helpful when sitting up in bed. Massage seems to be hit or miss. Doesn't really do anything for me, but really helps my wife. It's nice having programmable comfort positions because you'll end up finding just the right position that makes you comfortable, and it's nice to be able to hit a button and the bed just goes to that position. Underbed lights are nice when you need to get up to use the restroom in the middle of the night. I can control my adjustable bed with an app on my phone, but for some reason I never do. I always just reach for the remote. I have a wall hugger, but I don't think that's a feature I would worry about because it doesn't make THAT big of a difference. I still have a table near the side of my bed I put my stuff on (phone, book, remotes etc) because I don't want to reach all the way back to the wall to grab stuff when I want it. Adjustable height legs are nice, or some manufacturers include several heights of legs that can be used individually to achieve different heights, or screwed together if you like your bed higher. It's nice to have options. But yeah I feel like as long as you're not scraping the bottom of the barrel price-wise, and you get something with the options you like, you'll probably be happy. I keep looking at them, but then wonder if it wouldn't be irritating to be stuck having only the positions the adjustable frame adjusts to. I'm dithering about whether or not I shouldn't just keep using a foam bed wedge for my head/shoulders and foam feet wedge (forget what it's called) on my box springs so that I can move them around to wherever I want on any given night or nap. I'd like to hear from people who currently use adjustable bed frames about whether or not they get aggravated at only having the various positions that are built into that frame, or if those positions are always what you need? I bought one a few months ago and I really like it. I have sleep apnea and back problems- I feel more rested. It’s for back sleeping mostly But you can still set it so it’s flat like a regular bed or slightly raised which I try occasionally while lying on my side Mine has a remote with a Anti-snore button that raises your head/chest to good angle in few seconds It also has two massage motors - but I find them a little weak - (gimmicky ) like from a 70s hotel - put in a quarter and the bed jiggles (cue Barry White smoke machine and mood lighting) I bought mine off Amazon as the selection was bigger than the stores- some charge a lot more in the store. The adjusting frame can sits inside a regular bed frame- you would remove the cross brackets.
