I’ve been grinding my own flour for 22 years now. Love the freshness of the flour. Here’s a list of my experience: grain lasts a LOT longer than already ground flour. freshness is unparalleled the KitchenAid Grain Mill attachment seriously sucks, avoid at all costs unless you want it for making cream of wheat (very coarse grind) my first mill was a KitchenMill, good but didn’t last as long as I thought it should’ve. second mill I got was the NutriMill Harvest Grain Mill, absolutely excellent and decently priced, watch for sales at big holidays. They seriously stand behind their products. Their customer service is outstanding. No I’m not getting paid for this, hahah. I buy grain in 25 lb bags from Amazon nowadays since grain is more scarce than it used to be in New Mexico. I buy Hard Red Spring Wheat for its higher gluten content for breads, and buy Soft White Winter Wheat for making tortillas. More on reddit.com

Hi everyone! I recently bought some wheat berries and now I’m on the hunt for a good grain mill. I’ll only be milling enough for 1–2 loaves of bread at a time, and I’d really love the flour to be super fine.
I did some Googling but couldn’t find a clear favorite, so I figured I’d ask this awesome group. Any recommendations for something reliable that won’t take up half my kitchen (or sound like a jet engine)?

I have a Mockmill 200 Pro(beginner as well) and the results are excellent. You can get the Mockmill 100 which is half the speed, but this tool is amazing. Mills very fine flour and I don't have to sift. As far as noise level, it is loud, but you only use it for about 2-3 minutes. Not that much worse than a blender.

January 17, 2023 - It takes a lot of dedication to mill several pounds of berries by hand in one go, and lately I simply haven't had the time. I do have a pulley set which I eventually plan to hook up to a bicycle so I can mill and exercise simultaneously. Unless you're as mad as me, if you think you'll grind more than a couple of cups of grain in one go, go for an electric mill.
