After Alexander: Three Later Portraits of Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton — Susan Holloway Scott, Bestselling Historical Fiction Author
June 22, 2020 - There are only two known portraits of Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton (1757–1854) from the time of her marriage to Alexander Hamilton (1755/1757-1804). I’ve shared them both here in earlier posts: the first by Ralph Earl, painted in 1787, here, and the second, a profile portrait in pastels by James Sharples from around 1796, here.

Elizabeth Hamilton Once Posed for a Portrait in a New York City Prison
February 24, 2016 - It’s hard to imagine the wife of Alexander Hamilton posing for a painting in the squalor of an 18th century prison. r/history on Reddit: Has Elizabeth Hamilton ever been photographed??? (1757-1854)
March 5, 2020 -
Hi, I was wondering if Elizabeth Hamilton (Alexander Hamilton's wife) has ever been photographed. She was born in 1757 and died on 1854. Photographs became more common in the 1840s people like Mozart's wife and 4th First Lady Dolley Madison have been photographed in the 1840s. By the 1850s more common people were photographed so why hasn't Eliza? She lived through both eras and it would seem to me that she would be pretty important to photograph as she was Alexander Hamilton's wife, imagine how amazing it would be to see a picture of her. Can someone please tell me if this exists and tell me where to find it thank you.
