I feel like I never see him anymore. He did one movie Close to You two years ago, but that's it for films. Things have been really quiet since he came out in 2020, and I find that sad. He's so talented.
I've seen so many comments on facebook posts I've had to block, because Zuckerberg has clearly picked up on the fact that I'm trans, and is hoping that dumping trans positive posts with disgustingly transphobic comments will get me to engage with his failing apps, lol. Eat shit, Suckerberg, I'm blocking all your half hearted attempts at rage bait.
However, I see seemingly endless posts with interviews from Elliot Page, all saying he seem so sad, and the life has "left his eyes." Based on his memoir, I can clearly see that he is just much more comfortable in his stoicism, and the lack of pressure to be a "glossy starlet."
I'd love to know what my transmasc community thinks of this, as I simply believe it's transphobic rhetoric used to justify the idea that trans people are inherently unhappy on a fundamental level when presenting as their true gender. I've never seen Elliot as an overly bubbly presence, and he is generally known in Hollywood for his dry wit and down to earth sensibilities. Now that he carries that into his experience as a trans man, people seem to want to use his talents as a way to vilify him.
I'd love to hear your thoughts, as perhaps I'm missing something vital in this discussion!
I keep seeing entertainment news about Elliot Page. I strive to be empathetic and open minded, and I respect his struggle as a transitioned man. Transitioning at all, especially in the public eye, requires tremendous strength of character. Having said that, I have and continue to find his bleatings exhausting and frankly, stupid. His privilege as a celebrity should not be used to bemoan his difficulty, but instead to highlight the challenges of the less privileged. He has failed to do so by making such a fuss about his struggle, and become simply tiring. I am not sure if this is a failure in PR, a personal failure of mine in interpreting his caterwauling, or something else. In any case, I find Elliot Page, and all related news, now completely exhausting.
I finished Pageboy last night and it was so sad and moving. My heart breaks for Elliot because he suffered not just trapped in his thoughts but in a body that wasn't truly his for so long. I thought I understood gender dysphoria but the torture of it was really brought out here. I really am glad I read this and that Elliott Page wrote his story because we need to hear more voices like his. Trans rights are human rights. If we can break down the walls of conformity all people will be better for it.
I genuinely do not understand why people dislike him now. I haven't seen nearly as many discussions about him being a bad actor before he transitioned compared to after he transitioned.
I don't see anyone whining about Allison's hair compared to the comics, I don't see anyone whining about Luther's body compared to the comics, neither do I see anyone complaining about Ben not looking like a literal corpse, but when Vanya turns into Viktor, suddenly the world is on fire.
"He's an actor, he can still play female roles!" Yeah, but what if he doesn't want to? It's genuinely so annoying to see 'fans' demand and demand and demand with little to no respect to the wellbeing of artists.
"Vanya turning into Viktor was pointless to the plot!" Okay? God forbid characters have moments that don't contribute to the plot.
"Vanya is a male name, the character could have kept it!" Genuinely so tired of seeing this one. Yes, it's a masculine name in certain parts of the world, but that doesn't mean that he HAS to keep it. Changing one's name whwn transitioning is common, even if it fits the gender you're transitioning to. Quick, grab your pitch forks everyone! Charlie wants to become Bailey! Vanya becoming Viktor can also be seen as cutting the final string that tied him to his past. It's still the same character, just under a different name.
"The character is annoying! They're so quiet and suddenly they go apeshit!" What did you expect to happen? That his emotions weren't worth anything and that he wasn't worth anything is all that Viktor knew growing up. He finally starts to be able to build a life for himself, and season and after season he's met with what he's tried to leave behind. Anger, sadness and frustration can only be bottled up for so long.
Elliot Page isn't a bad actor. Sure his scenes may be a little awkward at times, but that's how the character he plays is. I'm so tired of people whining and sobbing and crying about everything that's wrong just because Elliot transitioned. if you don't like it then i have great news, watch something else! if it really ruins the show for you then just watch something else. Or stick to the comics, that's also a solution.
Edit: i'm not saying the seasons are fantastic, they all have different difficulties but it's hilarious to see people shit on Elliot for the acting in the fourth season as if he wrote the entire thing lmao. Actors work with what they're given, so it's not really Elliot's fault. Even if he was a producer, there's a lot of process that goes into movies and series.
People are allowed to have different opinions of course but it just gets really annoying when it's all centered around something they don't like, so they try to find a scapegoat.
I personally saw him showing signs of wanting to transition before he came out not because of his masculine presentation but because of the way he navigated through the world. Idk how to explain it but he gave so much bro energy... Now that he has transitioned I see that he's trying too hard to be a stereotypical boy and I dont think he has found a place where he's comfortable with himself yet. I also wouldnt recommend anyone undergoing any gender surgery or hormones if uve come to the conclusion ure trans in less than a few years.
I think he shouldn't have gone to Oprah in such a weak mental state and he has to sort some things out before becoming a face of the trans movement. And talking about the mainstream trans community, he might be getting lovebombed because everything he posts on social media is either The Umbrella Academy or trans related. He did look happier at the Met Gala so maybe he's finally in the path of finding who he really is but he may still not be prepared to lead the trans movement until a few years pass by.
Sorry if it sounds like I have a tinfoil hat on right now, but I've been keeping my mouth shut about this for a long time and need to vent somewhere.
Everything Page does ever since they came out is very political, even the coming out post had a giant paragraph about anti-trans hate and said "enough is enough" like they're coming out because of that. It was also posted I think the same day or the day after some detransitioner hysteria lawsuit thing happened. It seems very weird to suddenly claim you're twans when you're in your early 30s and right after something happened that could have affected the rights of actual transsexual children.
They're friends with and platformed a nonbinary "comedian" (Jes Tom) who has said that ftm porn has "done a lot for [her] personally" and generally talks about her transition in a very fetishistic way. Another nonbinary "comedian" who I think identifies as a lesbian also posted her and Page together and tagged it as t4t. Just very weird "t4t lesbian" vibes from them and everyone they surround themselves with.
They can't even talk about their transition in a normal way. They recently posted themselves shirtless with of course the big rite of passage scars on full display, and said some very generic soulless things about dysphoria and mentioned how important it was for them to have "gender-affirming" medical care. They look and act like an AI generated trans activist.
I don't think Page is truly dysphoric, I think they are yet another mentally unstable lesbian dealing with internalized homophobia who after 2020 became convinced that they are a real twans man and is for some reason using this to become extremely political. It's sad that these people are who are representing us. It definitely won't change anytime soon because being open about having transitioned is a death sentence for normal people.

First of all, I’m not transphobic in any way but while watching S4 I felt really annoyed every time Viktor came into the screen. First, why would you make him this kind of fuck boy who has been with every girl in town when that is just ridiculous. The past season he has been so obsessed with his love interest that this seems like a vulgar way of saying “look trans man can pull as much girls as a biological man”. It was UNNECESSARY.
Second, the constant need of inclusion I get it, it would perfectly work for the character considering that from season one he was the outcast. But I have this constant feeling that it’s a discourse for trans people. That’s not necessarily bad but the transition from Vanya to Viktor was obviously made to fit Elliot Page’s process, it wasn’t organic. Tbh I feel like we no longer have the character on the screen but Elliot Page giving a speech for trans people rights with anger issues. Also his saviour complex was also very annoying, it felt really empty considering he didn’t want nothing to do with his family and only wanted to get back his life. Like these are other many things that where annoying like I said it was painful every time he came into the screen. And although I respect Elliot Page’s choice I don’t think it was a good decision to make Vanya transition. Idk what do you think?

"One night, he tried to knock himself out. Took his knuckles to his face and pounded over and over until bruises formed. For days after, he sat in a lawn chair on the porch, ashamed, his face sore. And then he heard a voice."
"'It was as if something in my brain turned around,” recalls Page, now 36. 'The agonizing voice saying, ‘No, you’re not,’ ‘No, you can’t’ just switched and became very gentle and loving. ‘Oh, maybe I’m trans. Why don’t I explore that?’'"
"Within weeks, he’d scheduled a Zoom consultation with a doctor to discuss top surgery. The procedure was scheduled for November. A month later, he announced to fans on Instagram, who have known him since the release of “Juno” 13 years prior, that his name was Elliot. "
This is really worrying. You shouldn't be able to get surgery scheduled after a few weeks of figuring this shit out. Adults should have the same stricter requirements that minors do, we seriously just let people over 18 do whatever the fuck they want with their bodies and it's wrong.
Edit: I've been banned from this subreddit for a while after calling Blaire White a he, despite people "misgendering" a bunch of other fake trans women who talk about how much they love their penis, so I'm unable to reply to all of the cisgender dregs who are finding this post. Go back to Twitter.
The actor who threatened Elliot at a Hollywood party??
elliot is known for his good performances but for some reason i hate how he keeps shouting his lines in s4 and how it sounds monotonous, in some weird way.
he has the most screen time, i think, but i've seen more emotions from klaus than him. he looks, idk, like this 🗿🗿🗿 all the time and the way he deliver the lines it's like this 📉📈📉📈📉📈📉. not monotonous but sounds like it has a pattern. idk how to explain.
he's an okay actor. i probably just hated the final season of tua that i noticed that too.
