There's a million options but here's what I did: I registered the domain on domains.google.com for $12 a year. Then I bought Microsoft 365 Business for $12.50/mo since I needed Office apps anyway for my consulting business, as well as cloud storage. Upon registration, Microsoft gives you instructions to modify DNS settings on Google. It's pretty easy even for non-IT people. From there on out it just worked, I get/use my email through Outlook on my PC and phone, or via the web Outlook app from any different computer. Google offers free basic website hosting which I took advantage of, and they have options to buy email hosting using a gmail-like interface as well. Answer from brunofone on reddit.com

I use a domain simply because you can't trust any email service to exist forever.. I'm happy paying £4 a year for a domain i can use for multiple things and have unlimited email addresses on..
