Word Dictionary API or JSON file

Webster's dictionary offers an API. To get a random word, I would grab a list of words elsewhere and persist that in a text file locally and just write up a randomizer which gives you a word when requested. Then submit that word to the Webster's API to get the other information you want. More on reddit.com

I found JSON files containing dictionary data, but often the data isn't organized into arrays and objects. You want to have an object indicating the type of word, the definition and other information, but often times the JSON you see on Github are just a simple one-to-one mapping. Is there any better more informative and structured dictionary JSON files out there?

Seems like it is an array where each element contains words starting with one letter - the first one has A, the second one B etc. Each such element basically contains a Map (In some languages it's called a Dictionary) where the key is the word and the value is the description. Seems a good enough structure. You might want to flatmap the array and then read it all into one huge Map object though. But there could be some kind of optimization if you filter by the first letter and then search the map... but I'm not sure if it really helps.

words_dictionary.json contains all the words from words_alpha.txt as json format. If you are using Python, you can easily load this file and use it as a dictionary for faster performance. All the words are assigned with 1 in the dictionary. See read_english_dictionary.py for example usage.
