I've done a lot of writing jobs over the years, and the most lucrative is content creation. If you have ever written content for a blog (even yours), you can try places like Verblio (they do vet their writers and require a writing sample). Also, I've had much success with content writing for jobs on Indeed.com . Seriously, just search 'remote writer' on Indeed and check out your options. If you don't have experience writing content, then start a website and start writing reviews and blogs, so that you have a body of work to show to potential clients. Without knowing what your writing is like and how much daily guidance you would need when given tasks... I would recommend at least asking closer to $25 - $28. You can continually improve your writing skills if it is something that you love what you do by committing yourself. Something tells me that this possible employer sees something in what you do as having potential. Although it may seem a bit more to ask for than what you were thinking initially, financial stability allows you to focus on the craft of writing. More on reddit.com

Unfortunately writing, especially fiction or subject passion journalism (video game reviews etc) is hit hard by what I call the "volunteer plague".
If people are willing and able to do your job for free as a hobby it immediately cuts your pay by 90% and dramatically increases the difficulty of attaining a job.
It also impacts other industries too.
First get a website or something going and start building your own portfolio. Send flash fiction stories to magazines to see if you can get anything published and learn from the editors feedback.
As Ben Croshaw said (paraphrasing): "Publishing content online is like putting a message in a bottle and throwing it in an ocean made up entirely of other people's bottles in the hopes that the SS Money-Ship will find yours specifically."
