I’m trying to decide if I want a storage bench for my entryway or if I want a console table.

I’m not sure if I’d ever use the bench part. Maybe in the winter when lacing up snow boots? But I can’t fathom much more than that.

I don’t like impractical furniture, so while I love how they look, I’m having trouble with the idea of a console table that’s just another thing I have to decorate. The only function I see for it is a key drop, but I can brainstorm alternative ideas to that with a bench.

Here are my pros/cons for each:

BENCH (Pros)

• Potentially practical, especially in the winter and for older guests

• Requires less decor/trinkets

• Appears cozy and inviting

• Provides extra storage in our small home

BENCH (Cons)

• May not get used much

• Difficult to find the right size for our entryway

• Can be more $ than a console table

CONSOLE TABLE (Pros)

• Easy key drop

• Has potential to provide storage

• Attractive

CONSOLE TABLE (Cons)

• Not completely functional

• Requires more decoration
