Yeah... ran into this problem yesterday and fixed it today. So the short is: Click here, it's the latest installer link as of today (2024-12-15) : https://epicgames-download1.akamaized.net/Builds/UnrealEngineLauncher/Installers/Win32/EpicInstaller-17.2.0.msi If it's a lot later than 2024-12-15, the historical stuff below may help Historical stuff Just providing these steps so anyone else can see how to get the link in the future, or who may not trust this stranger's link (since its not on epicgames.com as one might expect): 1 - Steam Deck desktop mode will not download the installer, it puts you in a constant download loop on their site ( @ https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/download ). 2 - Even logging in to Epic keeps you in the loop. 3 - Attempted to download via https://www.UnrealEngine.com , and it did download, but it didn't work well after install (it kept crashing in steam and not loading the Epic Library) - it was probably the wrong one it was named like EpicInstaller-17.2.0.UnrealEngine.msi). 4 - Used a windows virtual machine that had librewolf browser (private firefox) to go to the page to download, and it did. 5 - This means you either need windows to download, or UNTESTED: to change your browser's user agent to appear like it's windows. 6 - Using the browser in windows > downloaded the launcher > right clicked on it in the downloads > copy link > got the link above > pasted it here and to notepad. 7 - Clicking on that link (or typing it in full on this end) in the browser in steam desktop mode will download it to your downloads folder. 8 - It can then be installed as a non-steam game, and after you fiddle with the paths to point to the launcher after install, it will work.
