r/MechanicalKeyboards on Reddit: Don't buy from epomaker please.
September 26, 2024 -

Hello everyone. Please don't buy from epomaker. I have already seen multiple posts about epomaker here and I have to add mine. I wanted a nice kinda silent keyboard and got the epomaker rt100. The display it comes with doesn't work. The software for it is trash. I already had to get a replacement keyboard once because the previous one had some sort of loose soldering inside and it kept getting disconnected. Now I got the replacement. I used it for like 3 moths and there are now a few keys, like the number 9 that don't register properly or register twice sometimes. Also the keyboard disconnects randomly. Thankfully not as badly this time. But the keys not registering property is driving me crazy. Especially when I am working. I am going to find a way to properly diagnose the issue and use all the European union power I have as a consumer to get my money back from this company. They suck so much. I recommended a family member of mine to get keychron about a year ago and she is super happy so I will probably switch to them. Never buying epomaker again. Biggest waste of money in my life. Sorry for the rant. I hope this deters some people from making the mistake I made. Cheers.

I've just recieved the TH96 and overall very happy (especially with the switches), stabs (especially backspace) not so much. However, for the life of me, I can't find a numlock key to be able to use the NumPad as an actual numpad. Anyone manged to figure this out?

Hi, so I recently got an EK21 numpad with gateron yellow switches. It normally works fine but it will have these random moments where it decides to keep typing random characters in the search bar. Has anyone else experienced this? If anyone has a solution that would be very much appreciated.

r/Epomaker on Reddit: Has anyone managed to use alt codes with TH21 or any other seperated numpad?
October 24, 2023 -

I bought a 60% keyboard last year but was missing the use of alt codes. I bought a TH21 and was excited to get that functionality back but it appears that it doesn't work. Information is a little sparse on this topic, some saying it may not be possible without an alt key on the numpad itself, which TH21 doesn't have. Has anyone here had this same problem and managed to get alt codes to work?

In case anyone is looking, I had a different issue with the mappings (TH21 wired) but I managed to get this to work with alt codes. see here https://www.reddit.com/r/Epomaker/comments/16ichod/comment/l1zlwry/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Okay, nvm I fixed it. For anyone interested since I've seen a few other posts having this problem around the internet, you need to remap a key on the numpad to ALT. To do this first you need to download the driver for the numpad. In this case for me it was. this one. https://epomaker.com/blogs/software/epomaker-th21-driver?_pos=2&_sid=44a6e16a2&_ss=r Since you can remap keys directly by just punching the key you want we will need to set up a macro. To do this go to the macro tab and create a new macro to only press down on the alt key. Name the macro Alt. Then you need to go to the main tab and click on the button you want to remap, in this case I picked enter since I don't use that key and it makes hitting alt codes the easiest. Regardless of the button you pick, click on it in the window and then in the little macro section on the same page you click on the "Press" check box and then select the Alt macro you just made. Now as long as you have the numlock on you should be able to enter alt codes. This is a fairly simple problem but it seems like a few people have difficulties with both setting up macros on this numpad and having the same general numpad/altcode problem. Hope this helps.

r/MechanicalKeyboards on Reddit: New Numpad and Keyboard Build
March 12, 2024 -

Since I mostly use 65% at home and 96% in the office I noticed it’s a struggle to not have a numpad at home when I need it. So I bought the Epomaker EK21 to use in those moments.

I also had an old GMK-67 laying around that I an accidentally broke the left arrow key hot swap socket off of. I don’t own soldering supplies so I figured it was a lost cause until I got it fixed, but when I bought the new green keycap set I figured I’d throw some old switches in it just to see what it looks like. I then figured out I could replace the “End” key that I don’t use with the left arrow key and I actually kind of like the square arrow key setup. Definitely different but I don’t really notice any functionality change once I got used to it.

I generally prefer linear switches (especially on letters and numbers) but had a lot of really light tactle Keychron switches, and a couple heavier Voyager tactile switches so I figured I would try out a semi tactile build.

Definitely a Frankenstein build of what I had laying around since I didn’t really plan to build it but as a second option to my daily driver at home I’m really happy with it!

40% Numpad:

  • Epomaker EK21 Case and PCB -3 different types of switches - Arctic Foxy Clicky from Kinetic Labs on the Calc and Enter - Voyager Tactile from Kinetic Labs on the function buttons - Stock Epomaker Flamingo Linear on the numbers and period

  • Dagaladoo PBT ISA Profile Keycaps in white/green from Amazon

65% Keyboard:

  • GMK-67 65% Case and PCB

  • 3 different types of switches: - Arctic Fox Clicky on Esc and Enter - Voyager Tactile on Backspace, Space, LShift, Tab, Arrow Keys, Ctrl, Win, LAlt - Keychron K Pro Brown Tactile Switches on other keys

  • Dagaladoo PBT ISA Profile Keycaps in white/green from Amazon

r/Epomaker on Reddit: EK21 Numpad typing by itself/opening web browser
December 11, 2023 -

Last month I got a EK21 numpad from epomaker, now and then it suddenly opens the default web browser and types a key pattern that often opens a lot of tabs or it simply gets written on the search bar.

Some weeks ago I made a clean Windows install thinking it was some virus on my PC then discovered it was my numpad when I unplugged it while it happened again.

It keeps happening from time to time, it's not really that much of a hassle because unplugging and plugging back in fixes it temporarily but it does scare me every time it happens.

Has anyone experienced this with the same numpad or any other epomaker products?

r/Epomaker on Reddit: VIa related question (how to add Numpadhome, Numpadend, etc)
April 20, 2023 -

Hi, so I just got an Epomaker EK2 numpad and I've been playing around with VIA.

I make heavy use of macros and hotkeys through autohotkey and I already run out of F13 to F24 and Numpad0 to Numpad9 as holders for my macros.

I wonder if there is any way to add NumpadHome, NumpadDel, NumpadPgDn, etc. I dont see them on the VIA software, only Numpad0 to Numpad9 appear.

Is there anyway to add them just by themselves? so there is no need to use the NumLock key to access them.

Thanks.

r/MechanicalKeyboards on Reddit: Review of GMMK Numpad - questionable choices
October 18, 2022 -

Just got the GMMK Numpad and boy is this thing just not worth the cost.

First off, the unit I received had its screws overtightened. Each screw made an audible cracking noise when it finally started to release pressure. The 4th of 4 unfortunately got stripped just trying to loosen it. Tried a rubber band to give more friction without damaging it as much but no luck. Will try to fix this later since I have a poly carbonate plate that I can't use (or the color swap I wanted) until I get that screw out.

The tolerances are very tight, using the keycap puller they include in the box, there is barely room on the side of the edge keys which results in the aluminum sides grinding the plastic key puller and leaving yellow marks on the interior. This isn't visible when keycaps are in but its just poor design. A metal wire puller would have avoided this but no doubt its more expensive than the cheap plastic one included.

The slider. What a complete waste of space, its only able to adjust the volume of your system. Why would I need that when I have a rotary encoder directly above it and on my main keyboard. I guess I can adjust this encoder to do something else but I wanted to adjust my mic boost from the slider. The slider knob also comes off incredibly easily. Slide it up and down and it loosens and feels wobbly.

Inconsistency. This thing is shorter than the gmmk pro, it has rounded edges and the angle of incline are different so they don't even look like they belong together. Its north facing leds while the gmmk pro is south facing. The leds on the numpad cannot be seen except from the side. What's the point of an ecosystem if it feels disjointed? Moving the slider horizontal and moving the rotary encoder to above the top row would have made it the same dimensions, pitch and more consistent with the gmmk pro and you could have gotten rid of the "badge". The badge is an eyesore, nothing like advertising on a $140 base product.

Glorious core is and always has been a mess, but certain features are unique to the number pad over the gmmk pro. Rotary encoder sensitivity exists for the numpad but not the pro. Input latency adjustments are possible for the pro but not the numpad. Hell even the lighting configuration is different, allowing you to see the side leds for the numpad but not the pro.

The configuration. Wireless with rgb? Why make this wireless? You have to include a battery and have to recharge it regularly. Make a pronged cable that lets you plug the numpad into your main keyboard to minimize cables while also reducing costs for bluetooth and battery.

You might think at this point that I should return it, but I didn't even pay for it. I originally ordered one, cancelled the order before shipping, got a refund and weeks later got it in the mail. If you can get one for free give it a shot, but I wouldn't buy this.

r/EpomakerKeyboard on Reddit: My Thoughts on Epomaker QK108 Keyboard
November 18, 2025 -

1. Introduction & Specifications

  • Overview: Epomaker was kind enough to send me their QK108 keyboard for me to test & write a simple review. It has been a while since Epomaker released a full size keyboard including the numpad which I need for my job daily. As for gaming, I been using it daily to play my games like Apex Legends without any lag or disconnection even on wireless 2.4hz.

  • Key Specifications**:** Epomaker QK 108 is a full-size hot swappable keyboard with a turning knob and mini-LED screen as since in the pictures.

  • It also has 3 connection modes. wired, wireless 2.4hz and Bluetooth. Switching between connection modes from my desktop via wired connection to my laptop 2.4hz wireless with just a simple switch at the back of the keyboard.

2. Design and Build Quality

  • Aesthetics of the keyboard looks amazing with its bright keyboard rgb lights even with my lights turned on. Personally, I love their mini screen which allows me to upload and display gifs of dimensions up to 240 by 136 size.

  • The mini screen also allows me to sync and display the time and date currently, which makes useful when I am in full screen mode while gaming.

  • The Led screen also displays the battery percentage, A symbol for caps lock and windows key lock.

  • The endless turning knob is default volume control and mute by pressing and it feels steady.

  • Next to the mini led screen there is 2 button which allows me to turn off the rgb lights and the mini led screen with just a click of a button. This is useful for someone like me tends to leave my PC on 24/7. I can just off all the lights to save battery power.

  • QK108 keyboard is fully plastic but it does have some weight to it making it feel like very steady and durable. The keyboard edges are smooth and clear letterings PBT keycaps.

  • The QK 108 I was provided with came default with wisteria switches which made typing accuracy and speed feel like a breeze. I do not feel any discomfort during my prolonged gaming sessions.

3. Features and Software

  • Another reason I love this keyboard because everything is configured via web based. No installation of any drivers or applications is necessary. Therefore, I was able to bring it with me to work and used it with my office pc and laptop as well.

  • Since it has a numpad, I could configure macros and short cuts for my job easily via their online web-based configurator as well.

Overall, it has been great experience to be given a chance to use Epomaker QK108 keyboard which meets all my daily needs. This is also my first time using a keyboard with a knob and mini screen which I am loving it so much. I only wished QK108 comes with black or more choice of colours.

r/Epomaker on Reddit: Planning to build a customized left-handed, low-profile keyboard. Need help choosing components.
January 21, 2023 -
Background

I'm considering building a keyboard after the following specifications:

  • left-handed (numpad on the left hand side of the keyboard)

  • low profile

  • Bluetooth connectivity

  • backlight.

Regarding left-handed keyboards, there aren't a whole lot of options out there (separate numpad and keyboard excluded) to begin with. If I also want Bluetooth connectivity, and backlight there is seemingly not one keyboard out there that meets all criteria. However, I found one that almost fit the bill, the Epomaker (Skyloong) GK96LS.

However, it has a "normal" height key profile. Fortunately, this keyboard also comes as a DIY kit, the Epomaker (Skyloong) GK96LXS. So, I am considering buying the kit, and purchase low-profile switches and keycaps separately, and assemble the keyboard myself.

Keyboard parts

Searching around AliExpress, I found low-profile keycaps and switches that I think would fit:

  • Keycaps: XVX Horizon Low Profile Double-Shot Keycap Set (117-Key)

  • Switches: Gateron KS-27 Low Profile Switch

  • Missing symbols (see picture): Glowing Transparent Modifier & Function Keys Stickers for Keyboard (Keyoverlay.com)

Problem and questions

While assembling a keyboard sound like a fun project, I have never done it before. I am, therefore, uncertain whether the switches and keycaps I've selected will be compatible with the GK96LXS. I am also uncertain whether the selected items will cover everything I need to assemble a functioning keyboard. Making a customized keyboard is by far a more expensive solution than simply buying a keyboard, so I want to make sure I get it right. (Especially, since I have to order the components from China.)

I therefore have the following questions:

  1. Will the selected DIY kit, switches and keycaps work together?

  2. Does anyone have experience with using the selected stickers on the keyboard? How is the quality?

  3. Is there any other keyboards, or, alternatively, DIY kits, switches and keycaps that would meet my listed specifications?
