My Epson Ecotank is a piece of trash.
In the 90s, I had bubble jet printers that worked. Ink was expensive, but they printed reliably. Today's printers pretend to be advanced, but they are terribly unreliable. I've had lots of the cheap printer/pricey inks printers over the past 25 years. I finally ditched my Pixma after I realized $60 of ink would print mayne 50 pages. It would also claim my reservoirs were empty, when they weren't. Worse, if one reservoir was low (e.g., magenta) the whole damn printer wouldn't work. Scam is a kind descriptor.
So, I decided to buy a pricey printer/cheap ink model. I raved about it, because I started affordably printing at home again. The problem started about a year in. The printer regularly gets updates shoved into it by my computer. Well, one of their updates bricked the damn thing. They took the printer I paid for, effectively entered my house, and turned it into a piece of shit.
I tried to get a new one, but they stonewalled me, telling me I was past the warranty. I WAS past the warranty, but by like 2 days. Moreover, I argued they reset the warranty when they altered the product with an unwanted shit-patch.
They sent me a new one, and I quickly followed online instructions to block "upgrades." Alas, Epson's laptop driver wouldn't allow me to use my printer until I accepted the update. WTF. When I finally gave in and accepted the upgrade, it still wouldn't work. It didn't work again until my computer rebooted after the battery ran out.
When this thing dies, I will put it through an Epson corporate window. I will NEVER use Epson again.
