I'm looking to upgrade from the folding chairs in my recording room. Its largely used for podcasts, and so something that's comfortable and doesn't make a lot of noise is what I'm needing. My cohosts want ofice chairs. However, my recording room is carpeted so I'm trying to not use wheeled chairs or those plastic runner mats. I have a budget of about 300$ and am hoping to get 3 or 4 chairs.

Thank you!

I've been looking for a nice office chair without wheels, ideally something that is totally mesh-- like the Aeron Side Chair. Unfortunately, I can't find it anywhere for under $300, or even used

Does not have to be a Herman chair, but ideally looking for anything of high quality that has both a mesh seat and backrest. I appreciate any recommendations!

Hi,

Any recommendations for WFH chairs with no wheels? I need my back to be upright. I have lower back pain and definitely ely don't prefer any lean back. Ergocentric Multi Tilt worked well. But it has wheels - Looking for one with no wheels for home but same support/angle (almost 90 degree back) and similar comfort.

Thanks much!

Again, weird ass question but I always seem to utterly destroy my desk chairs in entirely too short a time due to either fidgeting, or my generally bad luck with desk chairs in general. I'm looking for a solid chair that is good to sit on at a desk and game.

Thanks.

Edit: normally I'd just go to fucking store and sit in the damn things but my car is in the shop for three months and my city is a sprawling nightmare so I can't do that.

I personally feel more productive with a plain non-rolling chair that has elbow rests. It forces me to keep my back and neck straight, which isn't uncomfortable and doesn't require constant re-adjustment.

This could be just me, but please CMV that a non-rolling chair is optimal for productivity for the average person (assuming that there's no other stations for you to frequently move between in your work space) because it forces you to maintain a good, comfortable posture and keeps you glued to your work. I also find that rolling desk chairs do require some level of 'stabilization' which is not noticeable over time but could be subconsciously irritating. The ability to recline could also tempt slacking.

This is a footnote from the CMV moderators. We'd like to remind you of a couple of things. Firstly, please read through our rules. If you see a comment that has broken one, it is more effective to report it than downvote it. Speaking of which, downvotes don't change views! Any questions or concerns? Feel free to message us. After years of trying out chairs (Herman Miller Areon and Embody and more), I feel the casters are what make things uncomfortable. I tend to move around and stabilizing with my feet is annoying. Is it okay to prefer an office chair without wheel?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for reccommendation for an office chair to be used on a old style desk, those with two side file drawers.
The desk's "tunnel", i.e. the space for the legs, is 56 cm (22") wide and 62 cm (24") high so I am looking for a chair without armrests or removable/foldable armrests.
I had a look to previous posts with similar requirements but could not find anything suitable.

I saw this one
https://www.amazon.com/Gabrylly-Ergonomic-Mesh-Office-Chair/dp/B07Y8BXBX8?th=1

the reviews are good. Would this be a decent option?
I was looking also at Steelseries and Herman Miller but I admit I was a bit overwhelmed by the options.

As an additional requirement, the chair will be used on a carpet, so I was wondering if having rollerblade caster, rather than the traditional casters, would be a good idea. If so, are there chairs that come with those as standard, or does one buy them separately and swap them (and if so, are the caster attachments standard?).

Thanks in advance for any input.

I want a comfortable chair for iRacing but don't want to drop big money on a cockpit yet. I've been using a slightly padded kitchen seat with the wheel attached to my desk, but something with better ergonomics would be great. But the problem is every gaming chair has caster wheels and swivels and using a chair like that for racing is impossible without sliding around everywhere. Anybody have any ideas?

r/sewing on Reddit: What is the best chair for sewing that does NOT have wheels on it or "star" base of office chairs
May 28, 2024 -

I've needed a new chair for my sewing room for a long time. I had one of those metal fold up chairs with a slightly padded seat that we got at Costco, but it disappeared into the ether and I can't find it anymore.

I've sprained my wrist pretty badly after going to sit on a doctor's stool before that was set a smidge too high and my butt yeeted the chair out from under me, so a chair with wheels is 100% a no go. I don't like the bases of office chairs because I perch my feet on one of the legs and then end up bruising a toe because of how long I keep it perched.

I've also had Septic Arthritis in my lower vertebra, so back support and ergonomic design is super duper important.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I'm looking at starting a remote job that will require me to be at my pc full time. Issue I'm having now is that I have a seizure disorder and I tend to flip pc chairs with wheels.

In an ideal world I would prefer a chair that has a recliner style and can swivel. Looking at a budget around $250 usd.

If anyone has advice I would love to hear it. I've found a few on Amazon but they all have mixed reviews.
