Hi, Sam. My name is Ivan, and I am an Independent Assessor. I'd be more than happy to assist you. I'm so sorry that you are experiencing this issue. Don't worry, I'll do everything I can to help you.
Error 268 in Roblox usually indicates an unexpected client issue, often related to software conflicts, network issues, or even temporary server issues. While restarting Windows can often resolve persistent problems, it is a drastic measure. Let's try a few workarounds first.
- Check for Roblox Updates_ Make sure your Roblox client is up to date. Updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements.
- Check Game Integrity (if applicable): Some game launchers (such as Steam, Epic Games) have a "Check Game Integrity" option. This can check for corrupted game files.
- Check Network Connection and Drivers
- Restart your router and modem: A simple restart can resolve network-related issues.
- Update Network Drivers:** Outdated drivers can cause problems. Check your device manufacturer's website for updates.
- Test your Internet Connection: Use a speed test to make sure you have a stable connection.
- Clear Roblox Cache: This can help resolve issues caused by corrupted data. Look for the “Clear Cache” option in Roblox settings.
- Run Roblox as Administrator: Right-click on the Roblox shortcut, select “Properties,” and then check the “Run as Administrator” box.
- Check Roblox Server Status: There may be temporary issues with the server. Check the official Roblox website or social media for updates.

Hello! I hope everyone is doing well. I am having trouble with my Roblox. This started on 5/09/ (4 days ago). It occurs on every single desktop/laptop device that isn't mobile. That includes my laptop, my sibling's laptop, and the two other computers we have. This is how it is replicated: Log into Roblox -> Join Any Roblox Instance -> Wait 5 minutes -> Error Code 268 appears.
Additionally, one of my brother's desktops has this issue where it asks "verify if you are not a bot" whenever you launch a game and if you don't and press cancel, you receive error code 529 (HTTP error).
What I have done to try and fix this issue (on all devices):
- Delete %localappdata%\Roblox
- Remove any bootstrapper (I had froststap)
- Remove Roblox
- Reinstall Roblox with the offical installer
- Wait a few hours
- Wait a day
- Restart the PC
- Flush DNS, Release DNS, and then Renew DNS
- Reset Winsock
- tried different Windows OS (I thought maybe it could be that the Windows OS is old. However, currently my windows OS right now is Windows 11 25H2 26200.6725).
So, I went to the latest OS I have and it still causes error.
- tried hotspot and different wifi (we have two different ISPS)
- Restarted the Modem and Router, made sure the ports Roblox uses is available and OPEN
- antivirus is temporarily disabled, and windows defender allows Roblox.
If anyone has any fixes or troubleshoots, they tried that I haven't tried please let me know!

Hi Jake Jackson,
I understand you’re getting Roblox error code 268 after a few minutes of playing and the game crashes, even after trying basic fixes like reinstalling and flushing DNS.
Can you help me narrow it down first:
- Does the error appear in every game, or only specific ones?
- Are you using any antivirus (like Norton, McAfee, etc.) or VPN?
- Does this happen only on Wi‑Fi, or also if you try another network (like hotspot)?
These will help identify the exact cause. In the meantime, please try the following:
1, Try a different network
Roblox confirms this error can be caused by connection issues.
- Connect to a mobile hotspot or another Wi‑Fi
- Launch Roblox and test
If it works, your current network/IP is likely the cause
2, Temporarily disable antivirus/firewall
Security software can interfere with Roblox and trigger this error.
- Temporarily disable your antivirus (just for testing)
- Launch Roblox again
Turn it back on after testing
3, Perform a clean reinstall
A normal reinstall doesn’t always remove corrupted data. Try a deeper one:
- Press Win + R > type “%localappdata%” > Enter
- Delete the “Roblox” folder
- Restart your PC
- Reinstall Roblox
This clears leftover corrupted cache that can cause 268.
4, Check for background apps
Close anything that might interact with games:
- Overlays (Discord overlay, FPS boosters)
- Game mods / cheat tools (even if not in use)
These can trigger Roblox’s detection system

As the title says, I and my other devices keep getting error code 268 randomly at least 2-3 times a day.
Whenever one device gets the error, every account I log on, and also my siblings accounts get the error too. If they get the error, I get it too, so we all have to wait 1-3 hours, even a whole day once. Making a new account doesnt work as well, and no I am not exploiting.
