I enjoyed this year. F1, Sifu, FC 24, Ghostrunner, Borderlands 3, NHL 24, The Show 24, Little Nightmares 2, WWE, Dead Space, Hot Wheels, It Takes Two and Aliens are all games I have put some time into that I would not have spent money on. I understand plenty of people don't enjoy sports games, but as someone who can't validate spending 80 dollars on a roster update I appreciate it. Answer from DaltonFitz on reddit.com

December 26, 2024 - Bought before essential: Evil west, LEGO Skywalker saga, Ender Lilies, Ghostwire Tokyo, It takes two (extra) From the look of it 2024 is definitely the best year for me. Also have learned the lesson to hold off buying some games and it paid well in 24. ... 2022 is at the top and it's not even close The others aren't bad but I think the dead live service games are worthless and a waste of a slot on a PS Plus Month.

r/playstation on Reddit: What's the difference between ps+ essential and extra games?
January 12, 2025 -

Hello.

I am thinking of getting ps plus on my ps5, however I stand here confused. Apparently, it's varies per subscription plan. To my understanding, the ps plus essential service has a smaller monthly catalogue, but you can keep the games you claim, similar to what epic games does. Meanwhile the extra service is more like Xbox game pass, which I am similar with. With monthly games of a larger catalogue which you can't own.

To clear my doubts, I have a few questions

  1. How big is the catalogue is essential? Is it like 2 games a month, or 10 games?

  2. Do games regularly get removed? Like if I'm playing a story mode game, what are the chances that it stays till the next month.

  3. Are there exclusives on there? Like in Forza or Halo in game pass.

  4. Is there any difference in the list of games between essential and premium (I forgot it's name, the highest end service)

Thanks for the help. :)

I've been getting a lot of questions about the many perks of the different tiers of playstation plus so I made this comprehensive video. While most seem obvious to playstation veterans, new players are often confused. I've talked to a few people irl who bought premium and didn't even know the basic perks or what they were paying for. I know I probably missed something but it should be a good foundational resource about what you get with PS plus.

For anyone new to PlayStation Plus:

The 3 (sometimes 4) monthly games for Essential tier have to be added to your library (via PS web store/PS app/console) before the next batch of games arrive on the first Tuesday of every month, in order to claim them.

You can access the games at any time in the future if your subscription is active and if you had added them to your library before the refresh. If your subscription lapses, the games will show in your library with a lock icon and get unlocked when you re-subscribe.

The Extra catalog of games is different from this as some games leave the catalog and if you had them installed or in your library, you will lose access even with an active subscription when a game leaves the catalog.

reddit.com β€Ί r/playstation β€Ί what are your "must play" games on ps+
r/playstation on Reddit: What are your "must play" games on ps+
June 29, 2025 -

Scrolling through the catalog and I thought about asking here. As the title says: what games are your favorites on ps+? I have premium so all options are available. I also have a bunch wishlisted to play later like ghost of tsushima, death stranding, the last of us, mortal shell, demon's souls, returnal, control, etc. Mainly looking for obscure (or maybe non-AAA titles) or from the classics collection that you absolutely love and could recommend. I'm down with pretty much any genre and style except HEAVY crafting or survival games (just not my thing. But if it comes highly recommended I might give it a shot)

Thanks and GGs!
