I’m building some Adirondack chairs and I’m applying the finish to them right now. I did a little research and found the best solution is to go with a marine finish. Epifanes is supposed to be really good but it is very thick to apply from what I read. I went with totalboat gleam varnish. The finish has a good viscosity for brushing and levels out really nice. Now both of these finishes require a lot of coats, I’m on my last coat today’s and I’m hoping that it lasts. I probably would of went with general finishes 450 which is a water based finish that sprays really nice , but the chairs are Jatoba wood and that wood is a tropical oily wood so the 450 was not a good choice .
