German sizes are widespread in Austria, Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. Furthermore, American, European, and Japanese designers all have their own sizing systems, making it even more challenging. An example of this is that a U.S. women’s size zero is roughly equivalent to a 30 or 32 in France. To add to the complexity, Italian sizes 38 (and 40) usually translate to small sizes in the United States, typically ranging from women’s size 4 to 6. If we look at French size 40, it commonly aligns with an American medium or size 10. Given this array of different sizing systems, it can be immensely helpful to consult a personal stylist or take advantage of online resources that provide detailed size guides for international clothing.
