r/Bedding on Reddit: I'm looking for the best cooling comforter or blanket, but damn I've been running circles around Reddit and Google all morning...
February 2, 2025 -

I'm looking for something more cooling, as I get so warm at night. My room is the warmest in the house and I've tested it several degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the living room. I have the vent blowing but it doesn't work well.

Well I have a cotton comforter but it's a bit thick and I'm thinking to swap it out. Every brand I look into seems to have pros and then there is one or several comments with major cons. Here is what I've looked into so far.

Peru Pima: This one flew under the radar and I wasn't able to find much online but the people who had them did love them. I found a few comments saying they lost their softness after a wash and began to pill.

Rest Evercool: This one has tons of controversy, not being cooling, customer service, pilling, etc. At a glance it looks perfect but I'm not inclined to buy based on price and complaints.

Aeptom Eucalyptus Lyocell Comforter: An option I found after some digging but doesn't have much to back it up.

Sijo Clima TempTune Comforter: This comforter seems to fit the bill but there are complaints of returning and customer service being a nightmare.

And then there's a lot of opinions and reviews saying bamboo, but bamboo is really rayon and bad for you, cotton is the way to go, but then that rabbit hole goes deep too :P

Having to weed out who actually enjoys their comforter, and who is a paid ad, damn! What a world we live in. I feel bad for those who are less internet-savvy.

Can anyone recommend a cooling comforter or blanket that is high quality and not super thick? (if it's thick but cooling that's fine [I'm looking for something to keep me cool]).

TLDR: I can't find a good cooling comforter. Can anyone recommend or do you have any reviews based on the brands I mentioned?

I’m looking for a thin filled comforter not a duvet insert. I don’t want any hoops. As close to All organic materials as I can get (outside and fill). Preferably bamboo but not opposed to other organic materials as long as it’s cooling. Solid gray color preferably dark gray. I don’t mind stitching patterns but would prefer if it isn’t a busy stitching design. My budget is around $100 no more than $200.

I’ve been trying to find one myself but they either are not gray, duvet inserts, or used polyester.

Thanks in advance for your assistance

r/helpandreviews on Reddit: I tested the Evercool Cooling Comforter for a month: here's the real deal for hot sleepers
February 12, 2025 -

I sleep hot.

Like, windows open in December hot.

So when I kept seeing the Evercool Cooling Comforter pop up in Reddit threads and "best of" lists for sweaty sleepers, I figured it was time to test it.

Here's exactly what happened over 30 nights.

Unboxing and first impressions

The comforter came in a surprisingly compact box for something that's supposed to cover a king bed.

Once out of the packaging, it felt... cold.

Like, weirdly cold.

Even in a 74 degree room, the fabric had that smooth, icy feel like a tech shirt pulled from the fridge.

Lightweight was an understatement.

This felt closer to a thick sheet than any comforter I'd used.

Week 1: shock to the system

The first few nights were a dream.

The Evercool fabric actually felt cold every time I moved or flipped it.

Night sweats? Basically gone.

I woke up dry, which honestly hasn’t happened in months.

I did notice it slid off the bed a few times, especially since I toss and turn.

But I’d take that over sweating through a regular down comforter any day.

Weeks 2 to 4: cooling holds up (mostly)

By the second week, I got used to the light feel.

The cooling effect was still there.

But a little less dramatic.

What helped was flipping or shifting it halfway through the night.

That cold-touch reset is real.

I washed it once during week 3.

Machine wash, cold water, low tumble dry.

No clumping, no change in feel.

Still smooth.

Still breathable.

Pros and cons after 30 nights

Disclosure: If you buy through this link, I might earn a small commission—no extra cost to you.

What I loved:

  • It actually stays cool to the touch

  • Super lightweight but still fluffy enough

  • Breathable, no night sweats

  • Easy to wash, dries fast

  • Doesn’t attract pet hair (huge if you have pets)

What bugged me:

  • Slides around easily, especially without duvet ties

  • Not warm enough on its own for cooler nights

  • Expensive at full price (200$ for queen)

  • Some people might miss that cozy, weighted feel

How it compares to other cooling bedding

I’ve tried bamboo comforters, cooling mattress pads, and even ice packs tucked into pillowcases.

Nothing felt cold on contact like this.

Bamboo and eucalyptus bedding helps with airflow.

But they don’t have that instant cool.

The Evercool fabric genuinely feels like it belongs in workout gear or performance clothing.

It stands out because it actually delivers that cold on contact feeling.

Who it's for (and who it’s not)

Yes if you:

  • Sleep hot, sweat easily, hate heavy blankets

  • Live in a warm climate or run the AC all year

  • Want something easy to care for and fast drying

Skip if you:

  • Love heavy, cozy bedding

  • Need insulation for colder climates

  • Move a lot and hate adjusting your comforter mid-sleep

Worth it?

Is it a game changer?

For hot sleepers, yes.

It’s one of the only comforters that actually feels cold on contact.

If you’re used to waking up sweaty or kicking off your covers every night, this thing will feel like magic.

It’s not perfect.

And the price stings a little.

But if staying cool is the priority, the Evercool comforter is one of the few that actually delivers.

Check it out here.

Hi,

My husband is an extremely hot sleeper. He’ll wake up sweaty at night, or move around so much trying to cool off that he ends up waking me up. The last 2 weeks I’ve been consistently waking up around 2-3AM, due to his moving around. After that, I’m wide awake the rest of the day. I’m slowly losing it. I used to love sleeping, I looked forward to going to bed. Now, it’s starting to give me anxiety.

Main question: What materials are the best for super hot sleepers? Ideally, I’d be looking for a sheet set, and comforter.

In addition to sheets, I’m curious if there’s other things / methods I can buy / try to help him stay cooled off at night. I came across something called a BedJet, which, from what I’ve seen, blows cool/warm air under the fitted sheet? Not sure if that’d be worth a try.

I’ll buy anything at this point, I just want to be able to sleep through the night again. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Edit:

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and ideas! You all taught me something new, so I really appreciate that.

I purchased the following :

Percale sheet set from Brooklinen

Rest, Evercool cooling comforter

I’ll probably be coughing out money for the BedJet system, first I want to see how we do with this change. The sleep eight system someone mentioned was nuts, but way out of my budget. Maybe something for the far future…

I’ll update if I remember to on how we’re doing!

Update 8/16/24

My husband did have sleep apnea, and he now has a neat little machine that pushes air in when it senses resistance while he’s sleeping. Thanks to all of you who suggested it!! ❤️❤️❤️

As for Rest: it’s probably my favorite comforter I have ever had, so far. It cools me off really quickly, but I don’t get cold sleeping with it. My husband has had less night sweats (probably thanks to the machine + better sheets). It’s buttery smooth and I really like the way it feels on my skin, so much so, that while it rest on me over a thin sheet, I end up kicking the sheet off in my sleep so I’m sleeping with just the comforter. I’ve washed it a few times following the directions, no issues with it so far. I do have to tuck it into the bed at the end, because we both move around a ton in our sleep and because it’s so smooth, it can fall off. But tucking it in has helped keep it in place and I have no issues there.

As for Brooklinen sheets: they’re great! They still kind of sound a little papery, but they’re very thin and easy to launder. I have 2 sets and I’m quite happy with them.

Anxiety around sleeping is now gone :)

Hey fellow furnaces of the night! I'm on the hunt for a legit cooling comforter that won't turn into a sweat trap by 2 AM. I've narrowed it down to two options but could use real-user experiences before pulling the trigger.

Option 1: Bedsure Cooling Comforter

  • Claims to use "3D airflow technology"

  • Bamboo-derived rayon cover

  • Medium weight (good for year-round use?)

Option 2: Evercool Comforter

  • Specifically markets to menopausal women (I'm not one, but if it works...)

  • "Phase-change" cooling fibers

  • Lightweight design

About me:

  • Sleep HOT (like, wake-up-drenched hot)

  • Mostly a side sleeper

  • Prefer something that doesn't feel plasticky

  • Need machine-washable

I am a HOT sleeper. Constantly waking up sweating and trying to find solutions. Does anyone have experience with the Rest sheets? I recently bought a hybrid mattress and this thing gets brutally hot. Don’t want to throw down another $1500 on a new mattress right after buying one but I’d also be open to mattress ideas under $1k. Love the feel of the memory foam it’s just so damn hot I’m having to move to a different spot every hour all night.

Not the most conventional question for this page, but has anyone had any luck finding a comforter that doesn’t make you sweat like crazy? I feel like bc it’s summer I get so much hotter easily & this comforter we’ve been using wakes me up at night bc I’m dripping sweat.

Thanks for your help!

Do cooling sheets really work? If so can you give me a recommendation? There are so many to choose from.

UPDATE:

I purchased Rest sheets/pillow cases and comforter. They definitely help and are far better than my normal sheets. It doesn't solve night sweats but it helps to cool down faster and the sheets don't seem to feel wet.

Tip: After you check out and paid, you will be offered a very limited time (few minutes) if you want to make any other purchases at 40% off. That's how I ended up getting the comforter which I wasn't planning on purchasing.

Have you tried looking at why you're sleeping hot? I sleep hot and used to be sweaty until I realized my ex wife was buying polyester sheets. Maybe you just need a set of 100% cotton or linen sheets. You also might have a polyester filled comforter or duvet. I switched to a wool duvet for the winter and even on warmer nights (South East Florida, it's been in the 70s lately) I never wake up hot, just perfectly cozy. During the summer I use a thin cotton blanket and during fall 2 of them. I'm very comfortable now in bed, maybe too comfortable. Otherwise, I don't know of any electric cooling blankets. We don't have the technology to push cool through fabric like we do with heat (really, is going through plastic, not fabric). The solutions you have available are from under you as opposed to over. The cheapest solution is the BedJet, and some people really like it, but from what I can tell you have to use their sheet to direct the air under you. I don't know if it blows cool air or room temp air. The more expensive options have more advanced solutions are obviously going to be more expensive.

One of my friends was having the same issue. She bought cooling sheets because her husband runs hot at night, but she ended up too cold. She said she subsequently went with Avocados cooling blanket and cooling sheets that have moisture wicking. He sleeps MUCH better and if she's cold, she tosses a blanket on top of her side of the bed for extra warmth. Edit to add: I asked why not just use a flat sheet for cover to be cooler (depending on fabric, cotton sleeps WAY cooler) and she said it kind of worked but the weight of the blanket was missing. So it solved the heat issue but created another issue because of the lack of weight from a blanket/ comforter for that sleep time coziness.
