In his more spirited films, Slacker, Dazed and Confused, and now Everybody wants Some; Linklater finds a way to make you enjoy a film that doesn't necessarily have a plot. In each of those 3 amazing movies he's directed, the movies just follow the characters as they develop, without a generic or mainstream plot.

April 25, 2016 - It is the film most deeply embedded within my spirit. Therefore, I owe a debt to Richard Linklater. I am spiritually indebted to him, so when Everybody Wants Some!! was promoted as the “spiritual sequel” to the source of this cult classic, I spent a very long time thinking about what a spiritual sequel is.

June 7, 2024 - I could completely relate to the film and understood its message of self discovery through friends, teammates and stepping out on your own for the first time. Plus it’s a lot of fun. There are jokes and characters. There’s great music and ridiculous clothing. Today’s world is filled with heavy-handed movies that are “relevant” and “important” and I’m tired of them. Everybody Wants Some!!

Its small yet says so much. Also stay till near the end there is a musical number that is pretty great. Everybody wants some!! is one of the best movies of the year!! ***** out of 5. ... Just saw this movie for the 2nd time and I loved it even more than the first time.
