This "Compact" power supply paired with a 12700k and 3080 graphics card gets extremely hot and has a ridiculous 0-100 fluctuating fan curve making it unbearably annoying to hear while playing any game or doing intensive GPU tasks.
At first I thought the product I received was defective so I sent it to EVGA for RMA (20$ shipping) after which they sent a different one right back but said the original "passed testing". So I try the new one in my build and have the same exact issue. I send them videos of the fan revving up and out down as well.
At this point I had also ordered an EVGA 1000-P3 which is not "compact" but uses the same modular cables to test in my build. It has absolute no heat or noise issues and performs completely fine, ruling out my case, airflow, or anything in my build being an issue.
EVGA offered me another RMA but I'm guessing that would just be a waste of 20$ to ship. I submitted more feedback on my product performance comparison above and received the following reply - https://imgur.com/VF2wtWX
I'm essentially posting here as a warning to anyone buying this power supply. I would absolutely not recommend it to anyone looking for 1000w capability, it is a defective product and unless you enjoy extreme heat and noise please do not purchase it if you have a high end CPU and graphics card. I'll be keeping the 1000-G6 as a backup/spare as it is completely not usable from my point of view unless I wear noise cancelling headphones. It's a little hard to capture but here's a video of the issue - https://www.dropbox.com/s/sqj5lhklkx7cs7v/20211226_220617.mp4?dl=0

I went with a 1000w G6 earlier this month to go with my 3080ti, no complaints so far. With the way GPUs and cpus are heading, 1000w isn't a bad idea to have some future headroom.
