Pseudo-phonetic spelling guide for American English
That's called pronunciation respelling, and sadly there isn't just one – Wikipedia lays out a whole slew of them here, including its own in-house version. If you're "forced" to use it and you have some knowledge of phonetics, I'd just go with what looks best to you and not worry too much about it. More on reddit.com

“Phonetic” spelling vs. “Traditional” spelling in any language
Simplifying orthography is a fine idea in theory. Traditionalists are basically incorrect on all the important points. But how are you going to do it in a way that actually makes people's lives easier instead of harder? We've all learned to spell a certain way, and upending that can have the opposite effect that you're looking for. (That's not to say it can't be done, it has been done. But what's more important is the politics of how it's done more than the principle of whether it's an okay thing to do. Myself I would look at the struggles against illiteracy during Maoist China and how they approached simplifying orthography from a perspective of achieving basic literacy and also by the method of mass campaign, as opposed to technocratic solutions to things that may not even be a problem.) Have there been any notable attempts at giving English an alphabet allowing phonetic spelling?
The big problem with a phonetic alphabet for English is that there are so many accents and dialects that the phonetic spelling for a large number of words might be phonetic in one place, but wouldn't elsewhere. Just think of the number of different ways to pronounce a simple word like "book" from one end of Great Britain to the other. And that's before you take account of English speakers in other countries. More on reddit.com

Esperanto is one example of a true phonemic orthography. Its creator followed the principle of “one letter, one sound.” · A system of true phonetic spelling would make things easier for all us.

Phonetic Spelling: What Is It, Basic Rules & Examples
September 24, 2024 - One common type is “broad phonetic spelling,” which aims to represent the pronunciation of words in a simplified way. This type often uses familiar letters and symbols to indicate sounds, making it easier for non-linguists to understand and use. For example, “fish” might be spelled as “fissh” to emphasize the elongated ‘s’ sound.

For example, "Maui" /ˈmaʊi/ respelled as MOW-ee, "metonymy" /mɛˈtɒnɪmi/ as meh-TON-im-ee, and "cobalt" /ˈkoʊbɒlt/ as KOH-bolt are susceptible to being misinterpreted as /ˈmoʊi/, /mɛˈtʌnɪmi/, and /ˈkoʊboʊlt/, because of the words "mow", "ton", and "bolt", so only IPA should be provided for such words. Particularly, respelling /aʊ/ could prove problematic as there are a variety of monosyllabic words spelled with "ow" and pronounced with /oʊ/: blow, blown, bow, bowl, flow, flown, glow, grow, grown, growth, low, mow, mown, own, row, show, slow, snow, sow, sown, stow, strow, throw, tow, and trow.

r/linguistics on Reddit: Pseudo-phonetic spelling guide for American English
March 5, 2023 -

I am graduating this semester and I'll be partaking in the graduation ceremony. My university sent me an email, asking me to provide the "phonetic spelling/pronunciation of [my] full name", but I am 99.9% sure they aren't looking for IPA, but for this hacky pseudo-phonetic system that I've seen people use a lot online. The problem is, while I know IPA, I don't really know that system. Is there a 1-to-1 correspondence for these two systems for American English vowels (Northeast, cot-caught split)? Here's my best attempt:

/i/ → <ee>

/ɪ/ → <i>

/ɛ/ → <eh> ??

/æ/ → <a>

/ɑ/ → ??

/ɔ/ → <aw>

/ʌ~ə/ → <uh>

/ʊ/ → ??

/u/ → <oo>

/aɪ/ → <eye>

/ɔɪ/ → <oy>

/eɪ/ → <ay>

/aʊ/ → ??

/oʊ/ → <oe>

Or I can just be a total snob and tell them "here's the IPA, good luck" xD
