Hello everyone I’m trying to set up some express toll stickers for my family but I don’t really understand what the HOV transponder purchase does for me. Will I need it for only one of my cars, maybe the family car where there will be 3+ people the most often. What would make it worth it to getting the $18 HOV transponder sticker? Where are these HOV lanes?

You want to get the selectable transponder. It allows you to select “toll” or “hov”. Set it to HOV mode when you have 3 or more occupants in the vehicle and you will not be charged a toll. Set it back to “toll” mode when the vehicle occupancy is less than three people. Use it on I-25, I-70, and US36 wherever there is an HOV/TOLL lane. The sticker version (non-selectable) provides you a modest discount versus the license plate toll. The selectable HOV transponder provides the discount and gives you a method to pay no toll. Both transponder versions require you to establish an automatic payment account with ExpressToll. Whenever the account balance drops below $35, it will replenish automatically from your bank account. Edit: I use my transponder almost every day. The toll lanes save a ton of time and wear and tear on the car, and have lower traffic density, which I equate to reduced risk of being in a traffic accident. I put the $18 selectable transponder in each of my cars.

If you have the HOV transponder switched to HOV, all of the express lanes are free. You still have to pay for E470 and NorthWest Parkway regardless. If you do not have the HOV transponder and just use the sticker, you will always pay for express lanes. The HOV Transponder isn’t a sticker.

Quick question for you all; I got the Toll/HOV Transponder but was hoping to put it in the corner of my windshield so not to obstruct part of my dashcam.
Does anyone else have it in the corner of their windshield with it working properly? Or anyone know if that'll work? (Technically ExpressToll advises to put it under the mirror but I've seen the toll stickers elsewhere before).
