It took me some years but I finally learned not to cheap out on materials. I realized it was false economy as the cost of installation (in this case the actual painting) was much more than the paint. In addition, the premium brands (IMHO) always seem to look better, and definitely last better. Now, the most important question is: how are these contractors preparing the siding for painting? House wash only, scraping where needed (and priming) etc. BTY the "self priming ability of a top coat is a myth (again IMHO). You always need to prime bare wood (i.e. if scraped to the wood). Also consider how good you current coating is. If the under coat is not adhering then it doesn't matter what you put on it. More on reddit.com

Sherwin Williams Visualizer While this tool is neat...lighting conditions make a huge difference on paint. You really need to get paint samples and try them on the walls in question. Even chips are only so helpful. Go to the paint store, get a billion samples, tape them to the wall, narrow it down, get sample cans of the ones you think you like, slob a big swatch on the wall, look at them for a week and see what you think.
