Hi folks, finally starting my endeavor to put a rack to this closet and trying to decide where the cables will pass through. A few options. a) ceiling, then wrap them all and flush with the side wall b) back of the wall near the ceiling, then flush with the back wall c) back of the wall near the floor

They sell cable pass throughs with some felt/plastic bristle fingers to help improve look. I personally ran all of my cables into a in wall network box, then brought them out through that to my rack. Otherwise tbh, drywall should fail before you could pull a cable against it hard enough to damage the cable. Cables can be run through plain wood holes without issue, just don’t go yanking on them roughly during install. As for running into a crawl space you should use outdoor rated cable, and seal holes with spray foam or weather proof caulk. Inside Walls need to plenum cable.

I can't seem to utter the right incantation into Google or Amazon to find the right term for a plate/box that allows multiple cables to inside the house to outside - just Ethernet and possibly fiber. Can anyone tell me what it's called, please?
Basically I want to pass multiple external Ethernet cables from an inside wall plate to outside cameras and a shed - up to 6 cables potentially. My present "drill a big hole and pack with wall filler" isn't viable beyond a cable or two.

Junction box. Plus conduit, probably, but depends on exactly what you’re going to do with it. Could be a hole through the wall, with a stub (short piece) of conduit out into the junction box. From the junction box you’d have more conduit or conduits, or glands to weather seal single cables.

The hard part is outside. Needs to be weather tight. Use a conduit through the wall, into a weather tight junction box on the outside. For each cable, open a hole in the junction box and install a "cable gland". A cable gland is a device that seals around a cable, fits through a drilled hole with a rubber washer, and is weather tight. They sell lots of them on amazon. Inside, you just have to make it pretty.

So I want to pull 24 Cat6 lines from the basent utility room, through a first floor interior wall, and into the attic. From the attic I will distribute to the rooms, and then go down the wall.
24 Cat6 lines takes up a fair amount of space. Anyone have any tips to pass this many cables through a wall? The other option I have is to run one line to the attic and put the switch up there. But I want to be able to look at all my cool gear, and I'm not sure if the hot attic on the summer will be an issue.
Any advice is appreciated!

I drilled 4 holes and split them into smaller bundles. 24 is a lot of cable for a 2x4 wall.

If you are going to have a patch panel in the basement or the attic, then you could do it, otherwise, I would just run the one! If you are worried about temps, check the operating temps on the switch. Since you will have power up there, you can always put a fan there as well

Hi everyone, I need to pass an ethernet cable from one side of the wall (drywall) to the other side, but I also want it to look nice, so just drilling a hole is out of the question.
What's a good passthrough connector I can use for that?
EDIT: To clarify, I want both sides of the wall to have female ethernet connectors.

Seems like you've found the solution that should work for you. So you just need a 5-ish inch patch cable between them. You want to back these up with a low voltage bracket too for stability. Mount one one side, plug the cable into it, then plug cable on the other side, and screw them in. If you wanna get fancy, get a female-to-female cable, so it terminates in a female keystone on both sides. Are you going through any studs, or is it all just opposite each other on drywall, within a single stud-width?
