We’re taking down some walls between our existing dining room and kitchen to create a larger kitchen space and open concept with a dining area (I know open concepts can elicit strong opinions in this community😀).
We have some corner windows which we don’t want to disturb for budget reasons, so we’re creating a bench seating area in the corner. This requirement makes the design of our new L-shaped kitchen 24 feet x 16 feet.
Would a kitchen island measuring 13 feet be too large?
We’ve been looking at it from the perspective of the design where the 13-foot island would be in proportion with the kitchen area. However, is a 13-foot island too big to practically work with?

We have a 12x5' island. It's a great size. Sometimes it's annoying to go around to the other side though. Can't easily reach items on other side like plates to put them in the sink. Otherwise everything else is great. We have cabinets under the overhang and drawers on the isle side with sink and DW and trash drawer.
