Family Dollar

I might be alone in this, but I've never found a shockingly great deal at FD or DG. Sometimes I think shit is more expensive there, but certainly not enough of a good deal to go out of my way. Dollar Tree is my jam though. Things I buy there: wrapping paper, gift bags, tissue paper and cards. I used to buy these things individually whenever I bought a gift, just for convenience, and they really are just obscenely expensive anywhere else. I'd end up spending half my gift budget on wrapping stuff! And it literally becomes garbage! Ant and Roach spray. I grabbed a can just to try recently and I am mad impressed. It actually kills immediately on contact. Other products I've tried that advertise this have not delivered. I'd end up using way more product for one bug/ant party. Summer toys. Bubbles, balls, sand stuff. You know, the stuff that you usually lose anyway. Kids do not care if their toys, especially outdoor ones, are expensive or fancy. Organizers like baskets and buckets and stuff. Deoderant. This was a bit of a frugal sacrifice for me, as I prefer the more expensive gel deodorant (Secret), but I just can't justify $4 for it when the Lady Speed Stick is $1 and works fine. Office and school supplies. Small gifts. Not always, but sometimes you can find cute and good quality candles, votives, frames, etc. Candy. One of our movie theaters in town is right next door to a DT. I doubt they've sold a $45 box of Whoppers yet this year. Cleaning supplies. Generally the same as more expensive versions, although I haven't tried everything yet. More on reddit.com

As a manager I would walk back into a Family Dollar in a heartbeat. I'd rather unload truck box by box than deal with the mess I get on my rolltainers. Food mixed with chemical and boxes just thrown in there. More on reddit.com

I don't consider Dollar General and Family Dollar as true dollar stores. They're more like the dollar spot at Target--cheap items starting at low prices. More on reddit.com
