November 26, 2025 - The best thrifting in Honolulu is probably Goodwill. On the island of Oahu alone, there are six Goodwill stores around the island. The population here is transient (between members of the military and affluent mainlanders with their second (or third) homes), meaning business is brisk and donations plentiful. I needed some beach pants and sand shoes…check! Rice cooker and deco tiki trinkets…easy! Harder to find are the elusive Aloha shirts, famous as a symbol of relaxed island life.

If you’re selling or seeking team sports jerseys, their selection is unmatched. Their website also has an online store for non-Chicago shoppers.

April 8, 2025 - Crossroads Trading is one of my favourite chains for thrift shopping in New York. They do feature mostly high-street brands, but their selection is nicely organised by colours and styles. To my surprise, this is the store where I found a Dolce & Gabbana Jeans skirt for a mere $30.
