I was a package handler at ground for 4 years. Benefits are better than anything you’ll find for the experience, tuition reimbursement was also very nice. They upped my pay every like 6 months so i was making over 20 bucks an hour for most of my time there. The work is ass at first. I was stuck loading trailers for about 10 months until they started moving me to receiving or van line, which was easier work. The work itself is back breaking. When you first start they are going to send you to the worst area and you won’t have much help. You will be lifting up to 150 pounds, but it’s frustrating cause sometimes there are jams or boxes get squished together, making it hard to move them. You will lose weight if you just eat semi healthy. I started at 250 pounds abs was fat as fuck and dropped down to 215 in about 8 months. You can move up if you stick around, in my case it just required a bit of ass kissing to the hub manager. Also 99% of area managers are fucking useless. Anything you tell them will be forgotten in seconds and they are all fake. I’ve genuinely only met one exception. If you ever need anything try and get to know the hub manager, they can switch you around and have actual authority. More on reddit.com

I can only talk from my epxerience, but the work life balance for me was terrible..... but I was a swing driver which makes each day something different and that wasn't always a good thing. My day started between 6:50 and 8:30, depending on the schedule and normally wouldn't get home until 5:30 or so. Now, that might not seem too bad but in this job you work hard, I was completely drained after getting home, having a drink and then dinner. Usually looking to go to bed between 8-9 only to do it all over again, I guess similar to any job. I've had desk jobs where the hrs were similar but never was completel drained by 8pm. Like I said, this is just me. Some people have easy routes with like 30 stops and when they get back to the station look like they just came back from a spa, most of them have been at Fed Ex for 20+ years though.
