It all depends on the size of the package, the volume of the plane that is taking it to the other country, the relative other sizes of the other packages. Typically it is prioritized based on the higher shipping speeds. But there is also other things that go into factor such as plane weight and a bunch of other things. Small boxes and envelopes get tossed into these huge baskets which may not be full with just priority items so the other items get tossed in too. Basically if it comes down to your box and a box with a higher priority level and only a spot for one more box on a plane then the other box will win. You're already seeing the total, and it's cheaper than EMS. I use FedEx Economy since it's less expensive and because I trust the FedEx network overall in general as far as tracking and getting packages delivered.
