Amazingly fast shipping on an International Economy package - so how does that work?
It all depends on the size of the package, the volume of the plane that is taking it to the other country, the relative other sizes of the other packages. Typically it is prioritized based on the higher shipping speeds. But there is also other things that go into factor such as plane weight and a bunch of other things. Small boxes and envelopes get tossed into these huge baskets which may not be full with just priority items so the other items get tossed in too. Basically if it comes down to your box and a box with a higher priority level and only a spot for one more box on a plane then the other box will win. But if there is room they will get as much as they can on the plane. More on reddit.com

IE (Intl Economy) is an Air Service via Express, as is IP (Intl Priority). More on reddit.com

Shipping 20+ items with Fedex International Economy, is it a good idea?
You're already seeing the total, and it's cheaper than EMS. I use FedEx Economy since it's less expensive and because I trust the FedEx network overall in general as far as tracking and getting packages delivered. Usually takes as week or less from the time Buyee finalizes the shipment. More on reddit.com

r/FedEx on Reddit: Amazingly fast shipping on an International Economy package - so how does that work?
September 3, 2020 -

I'm in the UK and on Tuesday I ordered something from a US company and chose the cheapest possible FedEx International Economy shipping, which had an expected delivery date of the 14th September.

It actually arrived this morning :) So how does that happen?

Obviously I'm delighted, and I'm also intrigued to know how it negotiated the system so quickly when I was expecting it to take 2 weeks. Shipped in the US on the 1st, arrived at my door in the UK on the 3rd, all at International Economy price.

It was a very small, light package - would that be part of the reason?
