Amazingly fast shipping on an International Economy package - so how does that work?
Prices on International Shipping are Outrageous!!!!
First-Flight-Out/International fastest??
International Priority Shipping
I'm in the UK and on Tuesday I ordered something from a US company and chose the cheapest possible FedEx International Economy shipping, which had an expected delivery date of the 14th September.
It actually arrived this morning :) So how does that happen?
Obviously I'm delighted, and I'm also intrigued to know how it negotiated the system so quickly when I was expecting it to take 2 weeks. Shipped in the US on the 1st, arrived at my door in the UK on the 3rd, all at International Economy price.
It was a very small, light package - would that be part of the reason?
The stuff at FedEx was very surprised when I was willing to spend $273.26 on shipping of a 4lb package to my parents in Ukraine. And they were surprised reasonably so - prices at FedEx for international shipping are outrageous!!!! Something has to be done about that!!! For us, regular people, who don’t have big corporate FedEx accounts. For those who pay out of pocket! FedEx prices are so unreasonably high. It’s just sad, that this service is so extremely expensive and overpriced, that we cannot afford to send a small package to our family abroad. And it’s sad that even FedEx employees recognize how unfair this pricing system is. They didn’t think I would actually pay for the shipping, that’s why they seemed so surprised. They advised me that prices at USPS are 3 times cheaper and I shouldn’t spend that much money on a simple package with nothing extremely valuable in it... Yeah, even your own employees don’t think your prices are reasonable and they seem ashamed to tell their clients how much those clients would have to pay to ship their tiny packages. It’s a shame for the company indeed! Your employees feel sorry for your clients, they don’t want clients to overpay for an international package which can as easily be opened and searcher at the customs of the country of final destination, as a package sent by USPS - a government operated postal service... All the packages will be treated the same at the customs border unfortunately. And there’s no guarantee that a FedEx package is safer at the customs than a USPS package. They’ll be treated equally and customs officials will do away with them all as they please... So what’s the real benefit of paying extra for FedEx international service if in the end it’s up to the customs of the receiving country whether my package will be delivered untouched or things will be taken out of it, or perhaps, my package shipped by FedEx won’t be delivered at all in the end... Please, anyone, tell me, why pay almost $300 to ship a package which may very well be butchered by the customs and FedEx doesn’t have a say in it but still charges the prime price. I wonder for what? If they don’t guarantee results!!!!! By the way it’ll take 2 weeks for my package to reach Ukraine - same 2 weeks offers USPS. So famous FedEx is not even faster in any way! What are they offering then - what benefits - a gambling game for $300? Will the package get there or not? - Let’s play a game of a 50/50 chance that the FedEx package gets to the addressee unharmed, not tempered with. Only $300 for a chance to gamble. Honestly, your prices are ridiculous. You should really consider lowering them for international shipping - you are not gods of shipping! You have no idea if the package will actually get there. And it’s not ideal to put it mildly. Please, respond to me! What are your company’s thoughts on your international shipping prices? I’m very curious to know! Are they justifiable at all? Your prices don’t bring people and FedEx closer together, as they say. There’s a huge gap between people who don’t want to overpay for a not 100% reliable service and FedEx who thinks they are kings of shipping. Please, give me your thoughts on this! Thank you! By the way, I think it was my last time shipping with FedEx internationally because it’s way too expensive for what they offer which is uncertainty, doubt and gamble on all those carefully picked little somethings, precious gifts for people’s loved ones abroad. You can’t even guarantee 100% they’d get the gifts!!! It’s sad, as I said before. This is wrong. It shouldn’t be like this... Please, lower your prices, please, be decent people dear FedEx representatives. You are overcharging way too much, it’s not even funny. I would love a hefty discount on my future international shipments, otherwise, I’m not coming back because your prices are not fair in regard to your consumers.
