Hopefully this is the right place. I just paid $194.76 to ship a box of these dimensions:
21.75lb 27 x 26 x 16 From CA to NJ Scheduled delivery 4/10
Is this normal pricing for a box or a mistake? It’s been a while since I shipped something this large and maybe FedEx isn’t the best option… just seems wildly expensive.

The options to get the true price would be to go to a FedEx office center and have it processed there. You could also buy some measuring tape and a scale. When you just guess and drop off the cost will be changed accordingly if the dimensions and weight are off by too much. More on reddit.com

Looks like you got your answer and that one hurts a little with the massive jump in price. In my experience the safest way is to take the box to a FedEx Office and ship it at the counter. Have them measure and weigh it, confirm the packaging type, and pay in store. You’ll get a receipt showing how it was classified, which is your proof if FedEx ever tries to re-rate it later. Most big surprise charges happen when labels are created online and the box is later audited. Counter verified shipments are far less likely to be reclassified. In fact I’ve never had one reclassified by doing it this way. Hopefully this will be the last time you have to pay an up charge for shipping! More on reddit.com

The box is about 27x18x22 and 14 lbs. Checked USPS and it says $99, I was like no thanks. I went to Fed Ex and it said $108. :(
Any advice on what to do? I only charged $30 for shipping. It comes apart, but the top part is about 3 feet wide. I can break it down into 2 boxes if I have to but they would both be about 22x18x18
Ill take the loss if I have to, but I thought it was a loooot cheaper.
