Has anyone used this brand before? Mytol? Is it worth the few hundred? It seams to be good value compared to others. Or is fest tool the best?

If the popcorn ceiling has not been painted you can simply wet it(with pump sprayer, or even an airless) then use a drywall knife and scrape off. There are even collection bags specifically for that at Lowe’s. I have used a cheap drywall sander(my personal one to sand walls for painting), mid grade(dewalt and porter cable), and best (festtool). I will say the quality is representative of how stable (not shaky) the tool is, as well as connectivity and bells and whistles. However you can get good results with a cheap drywall sander if you learn the tool(which is annoying), and maintain the pad. As a note I do not know about the effectiveness of using a drywall sander for popcorn ceilings, I personally have not used it before, for that application.

If you are a pro, just go get the Festool Planex 2.0 with a CT36AC vac. Best on the market and its not even close. If you have an account with Sherwin, they can finance for you. If you are a dyi, go rent one, or look on FB market place for Dewalt or Porter Cable. Either way you need a good vac with a good filter system if you don't want to work in a cloud of dust.

Even after popcorn removal I lightly pole sand the ceiling to get any residue off, then spackle everything and sand again. So the planex would still be a great asset even if I do a wet removal. After that I can see it being utilized on about 50% of my repaints, still way worth it. ... Well, well, well....look what I found.... removed link . ... I feel this was my idea. ... has anyone tried that new Festool Planex/vacuum setup? it looks slick, but the cost is prohibitive. I have a client that I'm doing some crown for that has asked me if I know of anyone that can remove the popcorn from the ceilings of his condo. The videos make it look easy, but in my experience things are not quite as easy as they say in the literature.
