February 22, 2024 - We bounce around with vacuums. We have had DeWalt Bosch and Hilti. Hilti is so expensive to get filters for. And dewalts are kinda short lived. The Bosch seems very good and by chance we found that the rectangular Bosch filters fit in the Hilti. So we were able to keep that one going. But it's sounding funny lately. It's lived a hard 7 years. ... I’ve had a planex and extractor with the auto clean for about 10 years now.

1) Vacuum suction settings 2) Filter (is it knocking, do you have the blast gate or removing the hose and covering the hole) 3) Hoses 4) Bag 5) Suction holes clogged (maybe ceiling wasn't dry enough) After that, call Festool... ... Appreciate the suggestions, i went ahead and ordered new hepa filters today. I have checked the Planex over and over and don't see anything clogged.

The suction power can adjusted for sanding on walls or ceilings so with the use of a Dust Extractor the PLANEX holds its own weight – helping to reduce the strain on the arms and back while sanding.

Festool Planex 2 + CT 15 vs. CT 36 AC | Festool Owners Group
December 10, 2024 - The Flex plus a Planex hose can be had for almost $200 less than the CT 36 AC, which would leave room to also get an adapter for the vacuum end of the Planex hose if necessary. ... I have 4 vacuums: CT-MIDI I in the basement for interior cleanup, CT 26 with cyclone and Workcenter in the garage rolling around, CT-MINI with cyclone and 36 mm hose in the corner of the garage for floor cleaning and Kapex use, and a CTC SYS for portable cleaning and wall drilling, so this whole "no need for 2 vacuums" part doesn't really compute for me.

I run a property maintenance company and do a lot of painting and decorating, including ceiling crack repair. I've been trying to resist buying the Festool Planex 2 with CTM 36AC dust extractor. I'm thinking of a compelling reason not to spend £2500 and I'm hoping the good folk of Reddit will tell me it's rubbish. Thank you....

If you'll be able to make a return on the investment within a reasonable time I don't have an issue with it. Being clean is an important part of good customer service. I have 2 cordless shop vacs for that reason. Makes cleaning up easy faster and easier and that means a happy customer.

For those who are not familiar with what AC model is and why does one need it. You should not use Planex without it.
One can swap the included 1 um filter with a HEPA filter from CT36 (they are exactly the same size) to improve small dust collection efficiency (but this would not make the vacuum HEPA certified for lead mitigation jobs; it probably would pass the certification, but Festool has not gotten it tested and certified this way). Finally, the vacuum hose which comes with CT36-AC is specifically designed for the planex (has a locking ring at its end) and will not work with the handtools which require hose end to slide into the dust port.

Interested in the Planex 2 with the light and random orbit motion. Is it really as dustless as reported by some? Or is that dependent on the vac? I have a Dewalt DWV012 HEPA vac and hoping to avoid buying a Festool CT36 with the Planex

That vac actually looks pretty good (seems to have Autoclean?). It will likely work just fine so long as the hose is compatible. An in-line cyclone separator can also help reduce wear on the vac…

I got the Planex 2 with the CT36 and it gets almost all of the dust while paired together. There is some that the vac doesn’t get but very little is missed. While running the Planex 2 I don’t even wear a mask. Not sure about other vacs though, I’ve only ever ran the CT36 with it.

June 5, 2021 - For wall repairs and ceiling repairs I did, I adjusted the suction power on the head unit while leaving the dust extractor at max suction. We had great results, walls and ceiling were super smooth with minimal dust on the floor to vacuum up. Festool accessory 205274 Planex drywall sander CT dust extractor tool holder has been useful.
