In the near future I have to do quite a few lapjoints on some big timber (20x20 cm - 8x8 inches for you Yanks out there)
I thought this would be an insanely good excuse to buy the Festool swordsaw - but lo and behold that is one piece of expensive machinery. So I searched around for alternatives, and ended up thinking that the Prazi beam cutter looked pretty dandy and importantly comes at 1/8th of the price of the Festool.
The idea behind it is basically that you buy the sword of a chainsaw and attach it to your old circular saw that you happen to have lying around. And yes, I happen to have an old Makita circular saw that is just gathering dust in a corner.
So the question is: Have any of you guys tried this beast? Maybe one of you even own one? What do you think? Is it a good piece of hardware? Is it safe? Do you still have all your fingers?
Or should I just sell my wife and spend the money on the festool swordsaw?
