New to all of this and using fidelity. How do I get approval for options trading?
Hello, u/OnwardExplorer . I'm happy you found us. Thank you for stopping by the subreddit for the first time! You'll first need to complete an options application and get approval on your eligible account(s) to trade options. You can use the link below to review our offer and FAQs. If you're ready to apply, click the "Start trading options" button and choose "Apply for options." Options Trading Options approval decisions are based on your trading experience (including experience trading stocks/ETFs, mutual funds, bonds, etc.), financial situation, and investment objective. When your application is reviewed, you will receive a notification indicating what level you have been approved for. We will approve you for the highest level you are eligible for, up to the level you requested. While we cannot share specific details as to what will qualify you, you are welcome to reapply as you gain additional trading experience and your financial situation changes. Please note that although we allow clients to reapply as their circumstances change, options applications may be subject to a cooldown period if you've applied frequently in a short time window. We offer three different options trading tiers. Let's take a quick look into each: Tier 1: Sell covered calls, buy writes, buy calls and puts, sell cash-covered puts Tier 2: Spreads, sell short stock secured puts Tier 3: Sell uncovered calls/puts on equities and indices. You can learn more about Option tiers using the link below. Trading FAQs: Margin Please let us know if you have additional questions so we can review this further. I appreciate you trading with Fidelity! Options trading entails significant risk and is not appropriate for all investors. Specific complex options strategies carry additional risk. Before trading options, please read the Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options . Supporting documentation for any claims, if applicable, will be furnished upon request. More on reddit.com

options application fidelity
First off forget about Fidelity, it is not going to happen. However why not take the time to learn about options and how to handle them. I have learnt a lot from TastyLive and suggest you go try them. Thousands of videos , and an explanation of how to trade. Here is ONE of their training vids https://www.tastylive.com/trader-resources https://www.tastylive.com/shows/mike-and-his-whiteboard Actually the live shows (which are available later that day) are pretty good and of course show current stuff. They start at 8am (Eastern Time) Tom and Tony, then Jenny Liz (great traders I cannot follow them), Concepts at Noon, then some morons that corporate made them hire Ilya and Chris. Dr Jim 2pm , Tim Knight (not quite the Tasty mode -- he uses charts, and Buys Options) ending with Tom and Tony. Also always watch Tony's Trades Today (Tue/Thur). If after a month or two you are still interested you can go Tasty , or try a larger firm that pushes options like Schwab (they have Tos which Tom founded , no he cannot code ) . Schwab might be hard to get option levels, Tasty will give it to your if your breath clouds a mirror. Options trading on mobile app
Happy Saturday! We appreciate you dropping by the sub. On the Fidelity app, it is possible to set up a multi-leg order on standard strike prices on the options table. To do so, follow these steps once logged in: On the "Transact" page, select "Trade" and then pull up the symbol you'd like to trade Click on "Options chain" and then the strike you're interested in Tap on either the strike or the bid/ask on a call or put Enter the "Leg 1 Quantity" and then select "Add a leg" Keep in mind, strike prices available are set at $5 intervals for securities trading above $25 and $2.50 intervals for those under. Additionally, strike prices are usually set from 20 points above the stock price to 20 points below it. Let us know if you have any additional questions, and thanks again for joining us. Options trading entails significant risk and is not appropriate for all investors. Certain complex options strategies carry additional risk. Before trading options, please read the Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options . Supporting documentation for any claims, if applicable, will be furnished upon request. More on reddit.com

so im trying to get options privileges on a pretty new fidelity account and, I filled out the application truthfully, like a dumb ass, saying I had no experience and of course go Denied immediately. I filled out another one just doing the best answers, high risk, lots of experience, etc. but now its asking for proof documents. The trade dates one is getting me as my account is new.

How long do I have to wait before I can submit another application with the best answers, get accepted, and not asked for documents as proof. OR will they remember forever and Im stuck until I actually rack up 2 years or so on the account.

You can call support, Fidelity has the best support system. But you’re not going to get approved for T2 or T3. If you have no experience (truthfully) you should actually just paper trade or not do any derivatives until you have a solid grasp of it, and have gained and lost thousands of fake money first
