I’m always confused what people use UI kits for. I’ve worked in both consulting and now in-house for nearly 10 years and have never felt the need to use a UI kit. I once played with MUI and it felt like a second job just to make that thing work for my design needs. Just design and build for your needs, it’ll help you grow as a designer. April 22, 2021Thinking of buying this UI kit — any feedback from existing users?
Well, I once thought about implementing this in a project. But there are so many variations of a single component, it’s crazy. I mean, let’s look at badges. You have 312 variations (!!!) of a component - naked, icon right, icon left, a dot, flag, avatar, and an "x" to remove the badge. This could have been done better and limited to half of it at most. What if you wanted to use a badge that has an icon on the left and an "x" at the end? You would need to create another variation. There are so many things I dislike about this UI kit that it would take me a few hours to list them all. Besides, each item you see takes up memory from your computer, and Figma is very heavy when it comes to using memory. This is a nice-looking UI kit, but it’s better for a Dribbble shot than for something you’d work with for 8 hours a day. Edit: 8 hours a day. More on reddit.com

MUI is a really great starting point. I’ve been building my company’s design system from the ground up and quite often reference MUI paradigm. I think there is another design system (I’m forgetting the name) but it integrates with Tailwind framework. It looked pretty robust.
