I have the M11. I have owned the M11 for several years. The device has held up well. Whoever told you that the M11S is no better than an android phone does not know what they are talking about! This person could not have ever owned an M11S. For me, my android phone's memory was full due to the amount of music I had on it. Upon moving to my M11 and adding a 1tb memory card, I easily moved all my music. In addition, I have been converting my cd collection to flac files and adding them to my M11. Just got mine last week. Comparing to my IPhone 13 - difference is immense. Soundstage, testing on my designated tracks (The Microphones - The Moon, for example), is wider by a couple times, even on Spotify, not to mention in FLAC. Ok some people here are not well versed in Android phones. The Fiio M11s, or any Fiio for that matter, will not be able to install all the apps that the Samsung Galaxy S20 can natively. Because Fiio devices aren't recognized as official Androids, certain app developers, such as Nintendo, do not show up in the Google Play store. You can try side loading an APK, but these are very unstable and are likely to not work in the long run. Plus, all of the current Fiio players are stuck on 2019's Android 10. Even though these players came out much later, they are still shipping with outdated operating systems. Being on the current OS is really important for device security and app support. However, your S20 should be able to update to the most current OS, Android 13. Also, Fiio devices are nowhere near as smooth as old Android flagships, like your S20. That is because Fiio devices have much less RAM and the far worse Snapdragon 660. Whereas your S20 has the more powerful Snapdragon 865, if it's the US model, or Exynos 990 if it's international. This means that you will notice stutters and an overall less responsive device when you compare it to an older phone. If you are only wondering if the M11s will be able to use a 1TB micro SD card, then yes, it can read it. But not as fast as the S20. You can make your experience better by spending more for a higher speed micro SD card, but the S20 will still be a smoother experience. The only thing that a dedicated audio player will do better than your S20 is play music. The Fiio players all have higher quality components that make music sound far better than a consumer phone or laptop could. And they have hardware and software features that are not present in Android phones that make listening to music much easier. But anything else, such as web browsing, running apps, and opening files will be much faster on your S20. So my consensus is do not expect the Fiio to be able to do the same tasks as your S20. Only buy the M11s if you are only expecting it to play your music. Btw, this is just my preference, but considering the M11 Plus is only about $150 more than the M11s, it seems like a far better deal. You get a better DAC, a THX amp system, a volume slider, an extra GB of RAM for better performance, and double the internal storage for apps. Because of the better DAC and amp you will have a nicer listing experience as THX amps are basically silent. The Fiio BTR7 Bluetooth dongle has a THX amp, and reviewers claim that it sounds better than the M11s. But either way, any Fiio player is going to sound better than a cheap phone dongle or laptop headphone jack. More on reddit.com
