November 10, 2021 - Of course, we still hope to keep the size and weight of this player within the limit of a portable player. Therefore, in terms of volume and weight, M17 is estimated to be the ceiling of our M series. Finally, M17 is actually part of FiiO’s strategy of brand building.

Output ports, the M17 can pretty much drive most headphones or IEM directly as it supports 3.5mm, 2.5mm, 4.4mm and even a full size 6.3mm output for headphones! Fiio took note of the ergonomics; making sure the sharp angles don’t hit any hot spots when gripping the DAP (I'm looking at you, AK SR25).

January 4, 2022 - M15 already provided a few glimpses of a desktop sound, but M17 further explored that idea, sounding exactly like a proper high-end DAC connected to a top-class THX-AAA headphone amplifier. I’m glad to report that I’m not getting a dead-neutral presentation, it seems that FiiO added a bit more warmth and infused more midrange presence to a linear sounding setup. While its technicalities are up there with the aforementioned desktop setup, I find its low-end denser and fuller, midrange was more present in my tunes, while discarding listening fatigue and treble glare.

May 12, 2022 - The FiiO M17 is, put simply, the most comprehensive and capable portable device available for headphone users at the time of writing. One might think that a device so powerful and industrial-looking might take somewhat of a “sledgehammer” approach to delivering sound, but that’s simply not the case - the M17 sounds finessed and wonderfully detailed with IEMs, and will then turn around and be stonkingly powerful and authoritative with the most difficult-to-drive headphones imaginable.
