I wanted an Android DAP, but I've been hesitant because my current set-up (AK 1120ii) is just fine.
I wanted Android for streaming, using AutoEQ, and pairing with my TWS buds (the AK1120ii is old tech).
Use case is public transport travel with IEMs, and at the office with classic flathead wired earbuds. I don't use streaming right now, but have done and might want to try Tidal with the M17, but not if continuous Wifi is required.
The M17 is probably overkill for my needs, but I liked that it was marketed between portable and desktop, which is my use case.
Anyone have experience with it?

I wanted to know if the M17 by FiiO is worth it for it's price & size in terms of audio quality & I want to know some reviews if there's some users of this device in the subreddit.
Thx

I guess it depends on what u are using with them. I currently daily a FIIO m11 plus and it powers what I want fine. My Sennheiser HD6XXs sound great with them. And I installed a 1tb micro sd that I will never be able to fill in my life time. And the battery life is very long (10 hours continuous play). In my opinion the m17 isn't a practical portable DAP. While technically it is "portable" it is fucking massive and extremely heavy. While I don't know the reason you are looking at the m17. I do know that FIIO is a great HI FI company so you will get a quality product no matter what u pick 🙂

Yesterday i received my Fiio M17 I wanted to share my impressions after a little less than 24 hours with the device. I want to start by saying, this thing is huge. It’s a brick basically. I don’t mind because i know it’s stacked with audio guts. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again here, the thing is a behemoth. Idk exactly how much it weighs but one thing for sure if you want a light player for your pocket, this ain’t it chief! Now onto the important part, how does the thing sound? In a word? Glorious! My previous player was the iBasso DX300 for reference. The only thing I have listened to so far is Led Zeppelin’s “How the West was Won”. It was “only” CD quality at 16/44. All the same The guitar was loud and in your face as it should be, the bass was really really nice, the drums slammed, and The vocals were in a word, sexy. I’ll come back in a few weeks time for a more comprehensive review. Any questions you want answered let me know.
PS: I payed the full 1800 buckeroos myself for this thing btw.
Hello folks. Just a little background. I have Parkinson's and there are a couple of things that really help with the mental health side of my symptoms one of which is listening to music which allows my brain to get lost in it. I have always been an audiophile in some certain terms and love listening to lossless music, it allows my brain to pick out everything that's going on. It's hard to explain but it helps. I don't have ant super high-end headphones but I do have some Sennheiser HD600.
So I have been researching DAP's and narrowed it down to either the Sony NW-WM1AM2 vs FIIO M17. I would like to watch YouTube videos and I will mostly stream from Tidal.
Money is an issue, as I was let go from my job about 2 years ago, but I figure that anything that helps me feel better is money well spent.
Would like to hear you thoughts on these two DAP's. Thanks!!!
I'm looking into getting my first DAP. However I'm unsure what the differences are in terms of different dac chips, and I'm still fuzzy on what "bit-perfect architecture" even means.
I plan to pair the DAP with the HD 600 at some point, though till I can get both a DAP and headphones, I'd be using the DAP with the Sony WH10004XM.
I'm looking for the best DAP I can find that can power the HD 600 on the go, do Bluetooth pass thru, and usb pass thru.
Guys, I need a little advice. I have Sony NW-WM1A and I am thinking about changing it to Fiio M17. Is it worth it if we are talking about sound quality only?
In both cases I'll use Sony MDR-Z1R headphones.
