Some versions of the Software FLAT OUT WON'T EVEN DETECT MY DEVICE.
(And Hiby R3 Saber is giving me the same crap too, I still haven't found a working version of the DAC software that actually SEES my Hiby R3 Saber!)
For me, the Fiio M3K only shows up with the version 4.47.0 software.
And after you get it installed, then it becomes a matter of finding out which of your USB ports is good enough to work without it CRACKLING.
The front USB ports work without crackling, but the rear USB ports crackle. And none of the USB ports have any different coloring to signify if they are "better." They're all just the basic black ports, no fancy Blue.
If you ACTUALLY get this damn thing to work without problems or crackling, you better write down or screen cap whatever you did cuz chances are, the next time you have to do it - you won't even remember what you did to make it work correctly.
I like using the Fiio M3K in DAC mode because it gives me a good accurate judge of a file's loudness when I'm trying to Normalize audio files, or when I'm trying to "Fine Tune" a beat mix in Reason / Ableton.
But also that little tiny USB Micro cable plug is super finicky. If you so much as BUMP the damn thing, it will drop connection and Ableton will freak out about it.

The USB DAC mode of my Fiio M3K doesn't work, it's like I don't even take it as connected my pc, but it appears as connected but with 0KHz | 0bits, I have the 0312 beta firmware because I also had the welcome screen problem, anyone know what it could be? music playback works normally, although the memory mode does not work either, I have to remove the SD card, but also appears as connected on the screen of the fiio
Can a fiio m3k mini work as a dac if connected in dac mode in an android phone?
So I've been using the M3k, mostly as a USB DAC connected to the laptop. Recently, the sound has gotten very quiet, to the point where I can't hear it at all. I remember using it at really low volume and it still being loud to my ears, but now I need to blast it full volume and set the volume on my laptop to high to hear anything. I then tried to listen to some music from the SD card in the player, and it is normal. The first time I noticed DAC mode to be quiet was when I connected them to my speakers a few days ago. What's up with that? And why is the volume limited to 60? Why can't I use the full potential of the player?
update: connected the Fiio to my phone, got the same results. I'm also hearing white noise, like sand is being poured constantly.
If you have the same issue, reboot the player and that should fix it. If it didn't, probably need to look for another solution
I plugged it in via the USB to my laptop, but the sound still comes out of my laptop and not the headphones/speakers via the jack.
The update version on my player is FW 1.4.5
Do I need another wire or component?
