The Domain and Range Calculator finds all possible x and y values for a given function.
People also ask

How do you find the domain and range from a graph?
To find the domain from a graph, look at the x-values where the graph exists. The range is found by examining the y-values covered by the graph. Consider whether the endpoints are included (closed circles) or excluded (open circles).

What is the domain and range of a function?
The domain of a function is the set of all possible input values (x-values) for which the function is defined. The range is the set of all possible output values (y-values) that the function can produce. Understanding domain and range is crucial for graphing and analyzing functions.

How to find the domain and range of a rational function?
For rational functions (fractions of polynomials), the domain excludes any values of x that make the denominator zero. Finding the range can be more complex and often involves analyzing asymptotes and the behavior of the function as x approaches infinity or negative infinity.

When asked to find the domain of a function, start with the easy stuff: first look for any values that cause you to divide by zero. Remember also that we cannot take the square root of a negative number, so keep an eye out for situations where the radicand (the "stuff" inside the square root sign) could result in a negative value. In that case, it would not be a valid input so the domain would not include such values. Range: The range is the set of all possible output values (commonly the variable y, or sometimes expressed as \(f(x)\)), which result from using a particular function.

Example: Calculate the domain and range of the function h(x) = 2- √(-3x+2). Domain: A square root function is defined only when the value inside it is a non-negative number. So for a domain, ... Range: We already know that the square root function results in a non-negative value always. ... Thus, the domain of h(x) = (-∞, 2/3] and range of h(x) = (-∞, 2]. December 18, 2022 - None of those require a calculator. Domain and range can be found by observing the function and it's inverse and finding out the points where it isn't defined. Exclude those points and you get the domain and range.
